Animal Cruelty

Well the lions do have to eat... But I'm sickened that they had to put that cow through the torture of being eaten alive rather than feeding the lions cow killed in a more humane fashion.

I don't know what that little thing was(sounded like a piglet?), but that was uncalled for!

Ugh.

Oh OH, WAHHHHHH.

QQ MORE

I don't think the cow cares whether which way it dies, it probably only cares if it lives.
Raz, their tigers; some picture books could clarify that.

Lions hunt, they don't like being given food they want to hunt. I'm sure the Cow didn't suffer much, death would have come quick.

it's not cruel unless it's a human killing it.

This may be handy to some people.

Holy damn.

Edit:// OH JESUS

Sometimes I wonder how ****ed humans would be had our skulls not morphed to allow for greater brain development. We would be so screwed against so many animals. Wow, I love nature. You can't help but feel somewhat remorseful for the cow in this situation, but had the lions not devoured her, they quite possibly could have starved to death.

What was that one show where they went all around the world to exotic locations filming wildlife in HD? Planet Earth? I know there's Blue Planet which is pretty much the same thing (made by the same people), but dealing with the ocean wildlife. Those two shows are incredible, and when watching one animal hunt another, you almost want to pick a side, or even help the one being hunted, but in reality, this is natural selection and the way it should be. Glorious.

cant watch the video but from the video description it sounds like it done for entertainment reasons at a chinese zoo ..supported by the fact that why would a zoo pay more money than is need to feed their animals? I mean an entire cow would cost more than a butchered cow due to the fact they're not getting the entire cow. not too mention the cost of housing and feeding enough cows/pigs to feed the tigers/lions on a regular basis. So it is cruel because the animals suffer for the entertainment value alone ..this is china so no real surprise

I don't know... I wouldn't call it Natural Selection... heh. First of all, the cows would rarely ever if even ever be in the environment the lions are in. That's the leopard's domain, prowling around human habitats and stealing livestock and poultry and little pet dogs.

And of course that the cow was driven there and dumped right onto them. Artificial selection at its peak.

And I don't really have that much of a problem watching the cow part... I know the lions have to eat(which is why I said it in my original post)... it was just supremely stacked against the cow. He was put there for entertainment first, food second. I certainly have no issues when it's lions actually hunting their prey in the wild, catching fast gazelle and stuff... though the fact is the males pretty much never do any of the hunting themselves. It's the females that are the powerful hunters. Males only fight amongst each other.

The thing that was most disturbing to me was the little animal(couldn't tell what it was... looked like a piglet), used as a gimmick and for enjoyment rather than any substantial or appropriate meal.

It's just the same cycle of behavior you get, animals for human amusement that you end up seeing bears being treated poorly in terrible conditions being used as muzzled side-show animals on the streets of some countries.

Wait.... so they are feeding a predator it's food? And?

You do understand this is what they do, they are predators, they do this in the wild.... they kill things and eat them.

How is this different from putting a rat into a snake's cage? Rat's are very intelligent and aware creatures. Yet if we feed a cow to a lion, it's wrong? Double Standard ftl.

what zoo feeds tigers or lions their food still alive? they dont ..what other reason would they have for feeding a live animal (when it costs much more than having butchered animals fed to your animals) ..the only possible explanation is as entertainment

You do understand this is what they do, they are predators, they do this in the wild.... they kill things and eat them.

yes if you take an overly simplistic view of this issue ..yes of course they eat other animals but this isnt necessary in a zoo setting. this is done for entertainment value alone; it is cruel to allow needless suffering for entertainment ..I dont see how that point isnt painfully obvious

WHO THE **** WATCHES THINGS GET SHREDDED AND EATEN FOR ENTERTAINMENT?

wtf.

Why the **** would you assume the same people who disapprove of this approve of feeding life rats to snakes?
For that matter even if they did, how does viewer hypocrisy make it any less horrible

Why the **** would lion behavior in the wild make it any less horrible for humans not to kill the cow quickly before
feeding it instead of letting it be ripped apart while it lives for the amusement of ****ers, knowing full well how terrifying and painful it is for the cow.

The fact that tigers hunts things and tear them to shreads in the wild is missing the point. The point is that this is clearly an entertainment event, hence the vans full of happy, laughing people gathered around in a circle. People enjoying this as part of a fun, family day out is what's ****ed up about it.

Couldn't agree more. Same shit, different animals.

I just realized in my sleep deprived stupor I called them lions before.

lol.

WHY THE **** CAN I NOT FALL ASLEEP!?

ARGH ARGH ARGH.

probably because you're not doing anything all day so your body isnt tired ..go dig ditches for 8 hours a day and you'll have no problem sleeping

Hey its kinda roomy in here! Woah woah, wherever we're going its pretty bumpy haha! Oh shit, we're tiping over ohshit! Wtf, I fell out? Where the hell am I? OH SHIT TIGERS OHSHIT OHBLEARGAGRLAGELEAG

ded

It's cruel ina way because, yes, they could of just used processed meat...but stuff like this happens millions of times in a single day in the wile. So while it may be a cruel demonstration of the food chain in action, it's just a representation of whats happening at this very moment all over the world. Life is cruel but humans are crueler.

Besides, we all know how butcher shops handle their animals. And in China? This cow was probably one lucky son of a bitch.

Oh come on, at zoos you know they feed live bunny rabbits to the Eagles? If it doesn't move, they don't eat it.

And also, if these lions and tigers were not killing cows in the zoo, they'd be killing Gazelles in the wild, that's what they do. And you know what? -Discovery channel films it all the time. Why? Entertainment.

-Same exact thing here, except instead we are giving them the food instead of waiting for them to find it themselves.
Sure, if I was running the zoo I would not do this, because personally I'd feel bad (I even feel bad for the Gazelles on TV), but I don't see what the hoopla is all about.
What I find more cruel personally is the presentation in which it is done, they can feed it a live animal, fine. But having all those damn van's and buses in the middle of their area is annoying for the animals.

No. I go through cycles where some days I can't sleep... and other days I can't wake up and end up sleeping 17 hours a day... completely unable to hear my roaring loud alarm clock.

Plus I also know what it's like to do hard manual labor for a long length of time. Not so cut out for it anymore, but I used to be.

Werewolf, yep, you're definitely a werewolf.

I don't care if it's for sport or not...the animals are just eating. Pussies need to grow a pair.

i lol'd at the feeding of the little pig(?) to the tigers and the subsequent crowd reaction. Also the duck(?) that was thrown from the white car was like "I can fly!", but it probably had its winged clipped so then it was like "Oh shi-".
