Another great reason Half life 2 will be released in November!

I just talked with my contact at Eb HQ.. Vivendi has confirmed that Half life 2 will ship in November (At least thats what they are telling there biggest dist. partner.) Half life will be out in Nov.

You don't need links or quotes because virtually every retailer has changed their dates to November. I haven't seen that kind of unison.....since....Activision said Doom 3 would be out in August!!

There's two possible reasons for it.

1. Vivendi don't actually know when they're going to ship it and are just telling retailers November as a best guess.

or

2. Vivendi know exactly what they're doing and are deliberately targeting the pre-Christmas period of November to grab a few more sales.

I personally think it's the latter, i personally think the game is ready for release right now but is being held off for November. I hope all this bullshit is covered in detail in that Prima guide!!! I'd really like to know the marketing related bs that's causing delays.

1) A 14 year old pimple faced store clerk does not count as a Eb HQ contact.

2)One companies PR department bullshitting a major distributors marketing or purchasing group does not count as reliable. "He could have said "I can't tell you when exactly but it will be before the holiday's" and your contact said oh that means November!

3) Pointless speculation again and again and again is annoying, until the product is announced as gold this is all BS.

I think Source is pretty close! There seems to be minimal crash related complaints for CS:S these days, granted i haven't even played it but there seems to be a feeling that it's running pretty well. Release worthy even...?

It makes perfect sense. Spread the bandwidth usage over a long period of time and ensure that absolutely everyone who is interested has preloaded before the game comes out.

Don't forget the preloads haven't even finished yet, they could stretch it over another month yet without any problems by just drip feeding small updates once a week or so.

the italian mob is telling me that HL2 is released in December, mainly because they got tipped off by an alien ship that have been recieving e-mails from Gabe about how to make the aliens look, "just right". In return, they get the first copy of Half Life 2, and get to re-create the entire game in L.A. one year after it's release unto the world.
