I'm looking for a game that doesn't require alot of power to run.. I've got my laptop here, which has no graphics card, I don't know the extent of it's power, but it can run SS2 and Deus Ex and max everything no lag (I know that's not saying much).

I want a RPG game, like Fallout 2 but with no annoying action point garbage. Maybe a Diablo-esque game (but not Diablo, I have Diablo 2 on here right now). Thanks for any help.

BTW it doesn't really HAVE to be an RPG, just a game that takes a long time, requires thinking/etc (which is pretty much an RPG anyways, but if you can find another game, tell me!)
 
Creatures, google it. It's a very cool and innovative artifical life simulator. It was made in 1996 so I doubt you need anything really to run it.

BG2 including the expansion should keep you busy for the next two months or so.
 
'Fallout 2 without AP' just screams out 'Baldur's Gate series or Planescape: Torment' to me.

Look dude, get gametap and you'll get baldur's gate 1 and 2, planescape torment and fallout 1 and 2. For 1 buck for the first month, and 60 for the year. Do eeeetttt
 
Golden Sun and Golden Sun 2, they may be for GBA, but they are amazing games and they should take most of your time until march.
 
The Witcher Enhanced version is a good long RPG it's what i'm playing at the minute.

Dungeon Siege
Divine Divinity & Beyond Divinity
 
Dungeon keeper you'll have fun with that game, it is seriouly fun if your into old school games
 
+1 for Baldur's Gate series.

If you get 1+2+Expansions you can try out this mod.

Hah, I had a lot of fun with those games back when they were new. I thought I was the only one that liked 'em! There was so much downloadable stuff you could get too... holiday packs, all kinds of different objects, weird mutations people managed to get... it was glorious.

For RPGs you can't beat Baldur's Gate II and Icewind Dale II... everything since then has been at LEAST a couple steps backward. Just look at the latest NWN2 expansion that just came out (don't buy it, it's crap)... they actually advertise having an "overland map" as this great feature it has (they didn't even do it right, rofl)... and Baldur's Gate had that shit a frickin' decade ago and it wasn't even important enough to even mention on the box! MMO's have been the only thing moving the RPG genere anywhere in a long, long time.
 
Half of that post is beyond dumb. MMOs moving the RPG genre? Seriously?

Baldur's Gate doing the 'overland map' better than SoZ? Meh not really though I guess you could claim personally preference. Also SoZ was a fairly good expansion, though like all the NWN2 titles brought down some by bugs.


Creatures was pretty cool though.
 
Personally id recommend Icewind Dale, for some reason I enjoyed that the most compared to the other Baldur's Gate games.

However BG2 is also awesome.

BUT, if memory serves me right, youll benefit in terms of understanding the story and gameplay elements if you play Baldur's Gate (ie the first game), as Icewind Dale is like a slightly hardcore version of Baldur's Gate, its not a sequel, just an expansion pack.

Neverwinter Nights was good, yeah, but BG is where i'd personally start. The story unfolding and the exploring were actually fun to do.
 
Ignore everyone in this thread that said anything except for Baldur's Gate (the first one). BG2 and NWN can come later.
 
Nah he should get BG2 etc. at the same time and use the trilogy mod like I said.
Puts BG1 on the BG2 engine and ties the two games together.
 
Non-RPGS:
Dungeon Keeper
You play the Dungeon Keeper, an evil overlord of your own chain of dungeons. You have to carve out your dungeon using your imp slaves and build rooms (lairs, libraries, training rooms) in order to attrack minions (various demons mostly). An interesting feature is how you compete with other Keepers for minons. There is a limited number of minions to attract and you must build a better dungeon than your enemies. You can pick up minions and drop there where you wish and you can also posses them to play first person (often fun during huge battles) and you of course get to use various spells to aid you. You can capture enemies and torture them until they join your side too. It's a very non-standard RTS.

Commandoes (especially 2)
WW2 based isometric view games. You get to control a small group of commandoes (Green Beret, Sniper, Sapper, Driver, Spy and a few more) to complete various stealth missions. A lot of thought required to finish any of the levels and you'll need to observe the enemies very closesly and figure out their patrol routes. There's also an FPS game with the Commandoes name, but it is to be avoided like the plague.
 
I'm a master of Commandos, don't even get me started.

I'm not a master of Strike Force though, as it's not even a true Commanods game.
 
Oh and if we're adding non-RPGs to the list, go for the X-Com games.

Holy shit yeah! If you haven't played those you simply have to. Won't stress your system whatsoever and it'll be a blast.
 
The Oddworld games rock. I bought the two of them off Steam over the summer.
 
Something that will absolutely run is Close Combat: A Bridge Too Far. Look it up, by this point it is abandonware and you could almost certainly download it for free somewhere online legally. It's a WWII strategy game from the mid-late 90s with a lot of depth, although it might take some getting used to.
 
Wow, I just looked at some screens for them (there's 5, lol). They look perfect, you can assign squads to do objectives, give each guy different weapons, set your supplies before missions. Sounds right up my alley.
