Another Terror Attack?

I grew up in East London, a guy was shot outside our flat and the Neighbour hanged himself.

Just down the road someone had a car with no wheels in their garden propped up on bricks, the gate was locked shut, one night they woke up to find the car gone, someone must have come by in the night with a truck and trucked it out of their garden.

I thought you grew up in Putney. It's south of the river, so it's not really East London. ;)

It's still a shithole though, I'll give you that.

I live in East London - Newham to be precise. Some parts of East London are better than others. That is to say, some parts are shitholes, and some parts are really quite dangerous shitholes. I probably live in one of the safer areas - it also happens to be one of the most ethnically diverse places on the entire planet around here. Not that anyone ever talks to anyone outside their insular little ethnic grouping. The wonders of multicultural society!

However even here, where I don't particularly feel threatened more than anywhere else in london, there have been occasional shootings in the neighbouring streets, one of the recent stabbings happened in Plaistow just down the road, and when I was out walking yesterday I saw a police ad appealing for witnesses to a failed drive-by. On the same trip I was accosted by a gang of kids who tried to get lippy, asking me about drugs. However my apparent resemblance to Kane and the Undertaker made them cheerful enough to be borderline civil and non-threatening.

Regardless, terrorism is absolutely no reason not to visit London. We're probably under a lot less threat of bombing now than we were at many points with the IRA. If anything, avoid London because of the antisocial behaviour and the shitty attitude of most londoners.
Nevertheless - still probably the greatest city in the world  (all of us here just need a break from it)
