this is ati 9800 256mb vs ati 9800 126mb, let's :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame:

how much ati 9800 256mb is better than ati 9800 126mb? If i buy the 9800 256mb now, can i play all upcoming games in the next 3 years? i mean like running those games with good speed and quality. I know that some low end computers which are able to run hl but can't run mods like dod, ns etc. I'm afraid that with ati 9800 i still won't be able to run hl2 mods, cuz hl2 doesn't use source engine to max.

man i like to talk here and hearing from people who like to talk, general forum is the place to go. I'm sorry to post in a wrong forum. but here u can get response faster. u know it's 5:41 at the morning, i don't have much time left before going bed. so plz answer my questions.

We discuss here. Reading the forum is a good idea to find that out. Its just that we only discuss HARDWARE here, so its not as big as general.

On the topic:
Question 1 you should ask yourself: Is 256mb better? YES! Of course its BETTER than 128mb. Its logical thinking, more is most of the time better. Is a Ferrari better than a Skoda? Yeah, I think most would agree
The second question: Is 256mb worth it? HELL NO! Its just extravagancy. Its like selling you a bed to go with the computer. Sure, its good to sleep in bed, but it wont do anything for your computer.

Buy a 128mb and pick out 2mb of it (note, you need to pick apart the memory circuits to get those out)

Your not understanding correctly.


It may be true that in a year 256megs cards will be standard.

But current cards just dont have the horsepower to make use of it. especialy a 9600/5600 or lower model card.

even the 9800/5900 see almost no increases in performance except mabey 1-2 fps in 1600x1200

It is not worth the money on a 9800 and it is CERTAINLY not worth it on a 9600.
