Ok so my issue is I need to gain weight. I'm one of the select few who can literally eat whatever I want and not gain a single pound. I've been doing it for years and loving it. But now my super-metabolism is beginning to haunt me because working out at the gym doesn't do anything for me since my diet doesn't allow me to convert anything into more muscle.

Lately I've been drinking protein shakes on top of what I've been eating but I don't think its enough since they're only 200 extra calories a day. I feel like my diet is too small and I eat pretty small portions... I'm not even sure if I even get the average number of calories per day that I should be.

Anyone have suggestions on how to increase my appetite?

You need roughly about 1,800 to 2,000 calories per day. (for men)
If you're training a lot, or do extremely hard work, it can go up to 2,800 calories.

Wait for Short Recoil to come along.

Eat till you're tired, sleep till you're hungry.

You should gain weight by gaining muscle, not by eating a whole lot.

Still, you may just be one of those people that is perpetually thin... at least until you start living off of your pension.

well duh... but you can't gain muscle without gaining weight to burn into muscle.

That sounds like a big undershoot to me. 2000 is if you lie on the couch all day. Hardcore athletes get up to 7 or 8 thousand kcals.

My grandad was like that. He ate mountains of butter and things like that but he was as thin as a reed.

Small portions is what generally makes your metabolism fast. Eat alot every meal and complement that with more food in the inbetween hours.

Work out. There's no other way. If you don't work out you won't have the appetite to eat enough to gain weight.

I started working out back in March...so far I've gained about 20 lbs of solid muscle. (150-155 > 170-175, and I'm 6'4"-5")

I work out and each a bunch but I'm still not large, I just got cut.

Must be why mines fast. I rarely ever eat a big solid meal. I eat this and that throughout the day and my weight stays in a range of ~4 pounds all the time. The only time I eat a big meal is either a nice big burger(Hardee's Monster Burger) or Pizza(I call half of it!).

I mostly do cardiovascular work outs 3/5 days a week since Soccers over. Mostly running, working the abs, biking, and lifting on the legs.

Now about you. There are weight gaining diets. One in particular are salads that are just enormous in calories. Eat a bunch of them throughout the day(The calorie size of these salads are to big for you to eat as a single meal. You have to eat them continuously throughout the day).

I'm exactly like you. I've been around 5'9" 120-125lb for the past 5 years. It doesn't help that I have long limbs as well. My friends hate me for it, I love it, but it does get to be troublesome when you're at the gym. I still am stuck at this weight, so I think the best thing to do is what everyone else says, work out plenty, and eat plenty (and healthy). Skinny ftw!

Edit: 999th post!

Yea I was stuck with this problem for a long time. I was like 113, I just ate a crapload, and worked out every other day...over 2 months I got like 15 lbs. Now I'm 140 but I also unfortunatly got taller now I'm 6'0 and 140 lbs. So I'm also trying to gain

Read "burn the Fat, feed the muscle." it can be found on torrent sites. It has a tremendous amount of information.
