haha this is pretty much standard by now; flaming anti-gay right winger turns out to be gay to great shame and lols for everybody

It's no good for a family values Republican to get picked up on a DUI. But substantially worse to get picked up for a DUI after leaving a gay nightclub with an unidentified man in a state vehicle.

That's the sorry state that befell California state Senator Roy Ashburn (R-Bakersfield) early Wednesday. In better days Ashburn, a fierce opponent of gay rights, was fighting marriage equality and organizing anti-gay marriage rallies as part of his "Traditional Family Values" campaign.

But he hit a bump in the road -- figuratively, not literally -- Wednesday at around 2 AM when CHP officers observed him weaving and driving erratically in downtown Sacramento. After a field sobriety test, officers determined that Ashburn, who reeked of alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes, was under he influence of alcohol and placed him under arrest. He was released from jail just before 4 AM.

Man, there is apparently no end to the self-loathing. Remember Chris Cooper? (Not the actor, but his character in American Beauty...so sad.) Glad this is out though. ;-) Hopefully it will make anyone who follows in his hateful footsteps think twice because everyone will assume they are just projecting. AWESOME.

What, you guys thought any official in CALIFORNIA isn't gay?

Especially those in Sacramento?

The freaking homeless people are gay in Sacramento!

This.

There's a reason California is vaguely rainbow-shaped.

i used to go by the saying, "don't mock it till you try it," but now its more like, "don't trust anyone, especially politicians"

also, he'll probably end up on Jerry Springer someday on the episode, "Politicians caught with their pants down"

come on guys, it's an isolated incident, not enough to pass judgement on an entire par...

AAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA

Haven't you guys see the new flag? They just issued it!

This make me proud to be a Californian.

Now, the the two timing, hypocritical Republican is a bit of a smear but good for LOLz.

It has become the standard now. Wow, he is a gay hating Republican. He must be gay. Now people will assume homophobic Republicans are all gay.

I know , its a travesty these poor critters will be assumed gay before the photos hit the internet, screws up the system that gives them several months to rave about important issues

I'm thinking there is some kind of super secret, elite gay-squad that goes around seducing the hardest targets they can find, with the sole purpose of putting them and ruining their argument. This happens way too often for there not to be a secret gay-squad.

That would be the most wonderful thing in the world. The Lizardboysssss~ Conspiracy.

That is fricken badass. Somebody come up with a logo and we're in business

Obviously not gay:

The guy hid behind his role as a representative, voting the way his constituents would vote. I'm guessing he won't be up for reelection if they are as gay-hating as he makes them sound. Come to think of it, neither camp would be interested in voting for him. I'd be pretty pissed off if I lived in his district, him falsely pointing his finger at me to save his own face.

...

In a state vehicle no less! GG.

There are gay republicans and gay democrats. It looks bad for either side with their more conservative voters. It's more fun for Stern to poke fun at republicans though.

It's not a red or blue thing, it's a hypocrisy thing baby

Being gay isn't bad though.

Those gay republicans are vehementy anti-gay and so as jondy said, it's a hypocrisy thing.

nope:

It's not a red or blue thing, it's a hypocrisy thing baby

^^^ this

And there isn't plenty of that to go around on both sides?;)

hahah you're excusing the behaviour by pointing fingers at the other side in an attempt to defuse the issue. the old "I know what you are but what am I" trick. But for lols I'll take your bait: yes the democrats can be hypocrites however they're not likely to be caught sucking cock shortly after attending a "IT'S ADAM AND EVE NOT ADAM AND STEVE" rally

the fact that people blindly defend this behaviour simply out of partisanship is the cherry on top of the lol sundae

BREAKING NEWS:

Anti-gay, Family Values Republican caught being gay admits ...he's gay!!!

"Anti-gay Republican Senator Roy Ashburn -- the man who was arrested last week on a DUI charge after visiting Sacramento gay bar Faces -- confirmed today that he is, in fact, a homosexual. "

"Ashburn's checkered civil rights record includes voting against a Senate resolution declaring Prop 8 unconstitutional, thrice shooting down the creation of Harvey Milk Day, voting against recognizing out of state same-sex marriages, and opposing "an expansion of the state's insurance laws to include sexual orientation as a protected class."

what a cocksucker

The lies this guy told to his family are horrible. Imagine the embarrassment because your family has basically been a cover for this man. I don't give a shit if the guy is a Republican or a Democrat he's a piece of shit. The article should not focus on parties over corrupted individuals actions.

"Ashburn is the divorced father of four daughters,"

they probably already knew. and it's not like he was being unfaithful. Sounds like you're pretty angry with him. where does your anger stem from? the fact that he lied? or the fact that he's was a hypocrite? because both of those things are tied to his political career and his party. they're not mutually exclusive. talking about his actions without looking at what he represented politicallly is just a little too close to going after him because he's gay for my comfort. I'd rather lol at his hypocrisy

It's simply not a party issue. You keep trying to make it one but we both know it's not.

I don't care if he is gay. I don't commend or condemn him for his sexual preference. Gay people are people regardless of how I feel about their preferences they are still people and should be respected as people. I'm positive we have differing views on gays but that really shouldn't matter here.

I've known and worked with many people of all sexual orientations and preferences. I have loved and cared about many of them and disliked others. I do not agree with the homosexual lifestyle. It's not my place to preach to to others about their sexual preferences so I keep my trap shut. In my house though homosexuality is thought of as perverse. We love the person but dislike the behavior. Whether you agree its nature or nurture doesn't matter to me. I think I can just leave it at that.

While you at least seem tolerant (which is important), I still suggest you find a flame-retardant shield of some sort.

Personally, I don't give a damn, but others might not be so apathetic.

Well, at least he knew that his acts of utmost depravity was something to be banned. Besides, some homosexuals actually are against same-sex marriage.

Note: If you feel the sudden urge to flame me, I'm joking. If you don't, FAGS MUST BURN.

I dont see how you can say that and then say this:

In my house though homosexuality is thought of as perverse. We love the person but dislike the behavior.

it sounds to me that you "love the person" in a religious way (love thy neighbour) but it doesnt sound to me like you actually have friends or relatives that are gay or if you do it just seems that you love them from afar. Personally I dont agree with homosexuality but it's only because "ewww penis" rather than judging them on what it is they're doing ("it's perverse!") ..I really dont think about their lifestyle because really it's none of my business

you're still implying your stance on homosexuality; "perverse" "nurture". personally I find the idea that homosexuality is nurtured to be laughable as it implies that it's quite common when there's simply no facts to support that it is; hundreds of thousands of gays/closeted gays indoctrinating a new generation of gays through acceptance of their gayness. it almost seems like you're reciting official religious dogma rather than an opinion based on first hand experience. ..that might not be the case but that's just the impression you're leaving

I think I remember this SIGbastard guy from the old days. If I'm not mistaken, he went on some sort of homophobic rant back then.

I am glad there is at least one right wing conservative. Was getting a bit stale with the liberal hivemind agreeing on things.

You don't find the occasional non-perspective I provide satisfactory?

/joke

Youre different, a hard-working disingenuous paid tool of the HMO lobbyist machine (i hope) rather than a religious tool

When you're ready to come out of the closet let us know, we're there for you buddy.

As a straight male I just don't see how anyone could consider homosexuality to be wrong unless they consider it a threat to their own lifestyle. What business is it of yours what someone does in their bedroom? Why would you consider something that happens in bedrooms to be wrong? We all have our own little bedroom fetishes that others aren't in to, nobody says if you like anal or oral sex you are living a perverse lifestyle, so why apply it to homosexuality?
