I will be going away to University in about a week and I am getting a new comp for it. As part of my high-speed internet package in residence they gave me a free copy of Internet Security 2004 from Trend Microsystems.

I have never heard of this anti-virus system before so I am wondering if anyone knows if its worth using because I got it for free or if I should spend money on something else?

If you want a good free one, get AVG Antivirus from grisoft.com. And don't anybody say it's bad, it USED to be bad in it's early versions, but now it's really good.

**** you.
That said;

Trend Micro is big with corporations, and, it's one of the best anti-virus software out there. It has updates each day, and you recieve them every 5 minutes (Adjustable of course, but that's the installation rule). It finds, and eliminates, all known viruses and trojans if they try to infect your system. It also includes a pop3 virus scanner for incoming mail.

Asus can probably confirm this, if he's hot on Anti-Virus software aswell ;) :cheers:

EDIT: Almost forgot to mention the best feature for gamers, it uses *very* little ram and no CPU.

No I have the money, I will pay for a copy of Norton or something else if this Trend Microsystem one isn't very good (well since its university it isn't really my money).

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if this Trend Microsystem can compare to Norton or Mcafee?

EDIT: Thanks Dead-Inside, thats the kind of information i'm looking for.

It can, quite well in fact. Most of the trend micro internet security packages work more efficiently than the Norton Internet Security packages. Then there is McAfee.................

Back to trend micro, I use nothing but them, switching myself of course from Norton Internet Security. I noticed like this speed boost in my system while doing stuff, it was quite amazing.

I am not saying Norton is bad......it just......they aren't efficient enough.

Then there is McAfee............. :hmph:

Well it looks like I will be saving my money and sticking with Trend Microsystems, thanks everyone. :D
