I've been overclocking my new 9800 tonight but I'm a little bit anxious. I've managed to get it up to 382.50MHz core (faster than a PRO), and 330MHz memory. However, if I touch the sides of my PC case, they are very very warm.

I love this PC to bits, and as I've just spent £230 on a new card, I don't want to damage anything because I don't have the money to replace it.

I think I can still carry on overclocking my core speed, but my memory speeds give me artifacts if I raise them anymore. Should my PC case be that hot and is it safe for me to carry on OCing the core if I don't get anymore artifacts?

of course he is

and if you're worried about it, don't OC it, it's a godamn 9800 Pro for christ's sake, it doesn't need to be OCed

It's a non pro. So I've OCed it from 324/290 to 382/333.

I was under the impression that once the card was too warm, I'd see the artifacts and I should stop. If I OC the memory anymore I get artifacts so I've stopped that. But it's still letting me OC the core, no artifacts. Should I stop now without any extra cooling?

I would stop until you get extra cooling just to be on the safe side. You really don't need to overclock it anymore since its already beyond anything you need (most likely), and there is no point in potentially ruining your card.

never let ur actually case get hot, thats a problem right there!!!!!, i mean the card getting a hotter then usual is the first sign, but ur actual case!!, jeez us, get some case fans, if u cant, ABSOLUTELY DONT OC THAT CARD!!! probably fry it criminy

My bro runs a 9800np and it runs every game just fine i dont see why you would need to oc that high, 1-2 fps isnt a big deal.
