I know this seems like a stupid question but I read in an article that barney's back in half life, so are they going to use the actual barney who escaped from black mesa in blue shift with Dr rosenberg or is it just any barney

Also I hope Dr rosenberg is in it because I liked him

No it will be the Barney from HL. But, he has a new make-over and looks alot cooler.

i hope OTIS from BS ( i can't remember if he was killed there, but anyway)

I havn't has the fortune to play HL:BS, is there any gigantic piece of info i should know from it, that would possibly help me understand some things that may crop up in HL2??

If it IS Barney from BS then I wonder what they're going to do about the ending to that? That was a terrible terrible ending. Painful to watch.
I wonder if they'll disregard it... Who knows?
And Otis never appeared in BS, he was in Op4.
SLH, you really didn't miss much. To an extent, BS is actually quite an apt abbreviation.

That's whay i heard, so i didn't bother to get it.

Otis DID appear in blue shift, at the shooting range , in the beginning.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Barney escapes Black Mesa with a bunch of other scientists. Awful.

we saw a scientist in a car!!!! i think it was one of the einstein scientists!! and barney (us) almost died or something in a portal thingy.... very confusing to me

EDIT: crap, he beated me

Funny enough while I'm waiting for HL2 I've been playing Single Player games. I completed BlueShift last night.. the game is only about an hour long, two at most.

*** SPOILER ***

At the end of BlueShift you help some scientists rebuild their experimental teleporter which was aimed at Zen, after much faffing about, going to Zen to change things, etc, etc you finally get it working and the scientists, one by one teleport outside of Black Mesa. When it's your turn some soilders burst into the room and you only just make it.

Then you all drive off into the sunset.

Wasen't the best of endings but I'm sure it will be explained in Half-Life2. What I did like about Opposing Force and BlueShift is how you really did become the character in the game - seeing G-Man now and then or passing Freeman.. It was very well done.

Blue Shift was that bad. It was actually very high quality but it just ends way to quickly and to suddenly, no big bad boss or even a big battle at the end. It still is good fun and the high definition pack that comes with it, upgrades graphics and models, is nice addition.

Well guys BS was actually created to give people that buy the dreamcast version something exclusive that the pc version didn't have. Since it was canceled they released the HD kit and BS/Of on pc. I know i enjoyed geting both games for only $24.

I liked the BS ending it was the most realistic. Not every story ends with a confrontation of a giant monster. And it also seemed to connect with HL2 the most. Think about where Barney goes from there to become involved in HL2 its good food for thought.

SPOILERS AND STUFF

I think after the depressing ending of Opposing Force they wanted to show a nice ending.

It does kinda help the sequel, because it shows Scientist and Barney Escaping. If you went by Half-Life and Opposing Force alone you would think only Gordon got out alive.

People have so much hostility towards Blue Shift.

I liked at the very start when you get off your train thing and the door won't open and then you see Freeman go past in his train. (That was you in HL). But if you play HL again you see barney knock on the door which is you in Blueshift. I kinda liked that. lol.

actually, i think it is one of the many barneys from HL. there's that line "remember when we thought black mesa was as bad as it could get?" That implies that they were in the shit together, as they are in HL2.

"Barney" was just a generic name that applied to all the security guards. the Blue Shift barney was a creation of Gearbox, and not directly part of the Half-Life canon.

Well, Gabe called him Barney Calhoun in a video interview I have (I can't remember where I got it from but it's called hl2_interview.asf).

I don't think the "Remember when we thought Black Mesa was as bad as it could get?" implies that they were together.

It's Barney Calhoun, the same Barney.

they are all the same barney. just like you won't be fighting OP4's race-x, you won't be talking to barney about when he escaped with those scientists.

No they aren't. It's Barney Calhoun from Blue Shift. Trust us.

I don't see how Freeman and Barney C. could not have talked before the happings of HL2. They are in the city togeather.
