Castlevania: Along with The King of Fighters is my all time favourite video game series (read, not just a single game).
I own (or have owned) the entire series except for Castlevania 2 (NES) and Legacy of Darkness (2nd N64 title). The ones I don't own any more are Lament of Innocence (PS2, It was a huge disappointment, I bought Metroid Zero Mission after I returned it) and Harmony of Dissonance (2md GBA title, It went in a trade towards Metroid Prime, but I plan to buy it again).
Best games in the series have to be (in order)
Symphony of the Night (PSX)
Aria of Sorrow (3rd GBA title, amazing story and incredible gameplay)
Castlevania (NES)

I f*ckin' love Castlevania.

Symphony of the Night (SOTN) is my #1 favorite videogame of all time. I also love all the GBA titles. Konami really needs to gets it's act together and make a new 2D Castlevania title on the current generation of console hardware. Remeber that SOTN is a PS1 game, think what they could accomplish on the PS2 or the Xbox! I'd give my left nut for a new 2D Castlevania game. Kidding, but I'd definitely buy one REAL quick.

EDIT: Where is Super Castlevania IV on your list? That one was brilliant. Also had my favorite music from the series.

IV, Ironically, I would put 4th. It was my first CV, so it has a special place in my heart. And Simon's theme from that was just awesome.

Nobody else is a Castlevania fan?

I guess the response to this thread shows why Konami doesn't release new 2D Castlevania games on consoles.

Yesh, Castlevania is indeed a great game series.
I haven't played all games, but Symphony of the Night, Circle of the Moon and Aria of Sorrow are the greatest Castlevania games I've played.
The older games to NES and SNES were OK, but far from comparable.

I love the music to all Castlevania games though.

I love Castlevania, but I must be one of the only ones to actually like Castlevania Chronicles. My list:

1.Castlevania Chronicles
2.Super Castlevania IV
3.Symphony of the Night
4.Lament of Innocence
5.Aria of Sorrow

Now all they need to do is release Rondo of Blood. Then I'll be happy.

Chrinocles is okay, wasn't a big fan of the Sharp X68000 version really though, even if it was the first. The NES version just seems to have better gameplay.
