My PSP VS DS Thoughts!!!

Of course they won't be. You do realise how many Gameboys and GBA's they've sold? The DS has been hugely successful all over the world and sold like hotcakes. Also, the GC has sold roughly as many units as the XBox. Now add their hugely popular first party titles that also sell very well, legions of loyal fans, and you'll realise you couldn't be more wrong ;)

They aren't the giants they used to be - but still sell a massive amount of hardware and software. Easily enough to stay afloat and bring in the profits

I'm not saying that Nintendo is gonna go under tommorow.

I just mean that in terms of home video game platforms (non-portables) Nintendo needs a success.

If the Revolution is a dud, I think we'll see Nintendo taking a long hard look at the business sense of producing a new home platform next-next-generation. I could be wrong, we'll see.

As long as there are people willing to buy a Nintendo console to play the latest Zelda/Metroid/Mario game there will always be a place for it in the living room.

The GC was far from being a dud. It may not have sold as many units as the PS2, but matched the Xbox and still brought in the profits (in terms of quality games i'd choose it over both consoles)

My bro was one of the lucky ones that didn't have fingerprints INSIDE the screen and without dead pixels.

It's waaaay too early to count the DS out. Don't forget when DS hits its full online capabilities. Metroid, Animal Crossing, and Mario Kart are looking great.

It's kinda disappointing that some of the PSP titles I was looking forward to aren't top notch (watered down game play such as NBA Street, Ridge Racers, and what the hell were they thinking by making Metal Gear a card game???). But overall, I'm enjoying the sexiness that is the PSP. I just need to buy a 1gig memory stick and my mp3 player wanting day's are kaput.

Battery life isn't as bad as people think. I was able to play Lumines all day with more than enough battery. I'm not saying it's a DS, but not too shabby.

Watching movies is impossible and/or retarded. Who the hell want's to take a PSP to class and watch a 1 hour movie. At least it's possible to rip other stuff into the PSP to watch. Family Guy, here I come.

Am I honestly the only person who doesn't want neither a DS nor a PSP? I don't get why so many people want a PSP so bad, it's just another handheld with a few more features.

I LOVE YOU FOR USING THAT SMILEY!

The only thing that could make you more awesome was a vote... :D

That second site linked to is interesting as well, because he explains how he did it. I wish I could understand more than a tenth of it though :E

lol :p, ok, you can have my vote :imu:

Personally i don't want to have a pocket PC, which is what i think the PSP is, admittedly i sit at my PC most of the day so i can play similar things to what the PSP has to offer on my PC. The DS appeals to me as it is different, although i'm not impressed with the launch lineup.

Not at all. I think its a waste of money. (For me at least.)

The thing about Sony as well, is that they have a LOT of money, much more than Nintendo do, so they can definately continue funding the console.

I am slightly worried about Nintendo, they seem to be going the same way as Sega imo. :(

Sony is not exactly in the friendliest of financial waters right now.

I don't game on the road. I already have an mp3 player. I couldn't imagine ever watching a DVD on the road let alone on a tiny little screen.

I would never spend $250 in order to play ps2 quality games and ps2/xbox ports. I wouldn't spend $10 to play ps2 quality games let alone $250.

I would consider buying a DS, not because I could use it to game on the road but because it does something I can't get anywhere else. It also has Zelda/Mario/Metroid games coming as well. The ability to utilize a new type of gameplay is much more important to me than ps2 ports.

Don't be silly. Nintendo sell an absolute crap load of machines and games.

Agreed. I think most of their fanbase exists in Japan anyways, correct? 50 year old men buy Nintendo products over there; everyone does.

Im not buying either the DS or PSP until I find out what the actual next gameboy is going to have. The DS is not meant as Nintendo's next-gen gameboy at all and it was never even really meant to compete with the PSP.

Apparently Nintendo may have been considering the actual next gameboy to be something capable of taking Gamecube DVD's and playing them. Now that would be something to get excited about.

Wow, at ebgames there was this guy screaming at the worker because he did not get his PSP. Apparently he was on the bottom of the reserve list and there were only 2 PSPs left and the guy was like

"I'm gonna call the f*** cops if I don't get my sh**!!!"

Eventually the guy was forced to leave with no PSP. I am amazed by how bad people want a playstation portable.
