Has anyone heard on any news relating to a TFC Source release, or TF2, which was rumoured at an early stage to be the multiplayer component of HL2.

Well no, nothing has been said. Valve refuses to talk about TFC:S and especially TF2. There has been rumours TF2 is the MP function of HL2 but there can only two supporting reasons for and against this topic. 1. TF2 is basically the only project under valve they refuse to talk about because it's included with HL2 as the suprise MP with like also the DM function of course. 2. Valve is trying to get HL2 out the doors, dealing with the SDK, DOD:S, TFC:S, CS:S, beta testing, and ooo so much more. They may just not want to talk about it for awhile because it will just hold them back even more.

The only things that have been said are when merc toured valve he asked about TF2 and got a reponse from Erik Johnson "They'll kill me if i talk about it." Gabe Newell has also stated in an interview that TF2 was in finishing stages which was quite recent. IMOP there is still a great chance TF2 is being included denying the fact that valve has stated TF2 is a standalone project in the past. The core reason this rumour started was just because of how sketchy valve has been regarding TF2 and refusing to talk about it. I personally think it's possible it's the suprise MP function since they are charging for DOD:S, TFC:S, CS:S, and etc...but then again they may just have to much to do right now instead of talking about one of the most secretive anticipated games they have been working on...multiplayer that is. Also not to mention that if CS:S is free with the purchase of HL2, then doesn't sound like they would include TF2, that's way to much for a person paying $50-60 for those games...isn't likely.
