Any reason to reinstall HL2?

Supposedly, there would be new game content delivered via Steam. Has there been any new single-player content for Half-Life 2?

I see a lot of hyped mods that aren't finished. I'm reading a lot about aimbots in Counter-Strike Source.

So I'm wondering if there's anything worth reinstalling HL2 for, or if the new content thing was just hype.

It was a good game. Too bad the story ended so quickly.

A good MOD takes awhile to make. Expect releases in the next few months.

Theres always been aim-bots in CS. Now that CS:S is getting more popular, theres more hack teams making cheats for it. The more popular the game is, the more hax there will be.

I'd say wait a coupple months before installing again.

Wait until either a good mod comes out, or VALVe releases a new game :)

Why in the name of God would you un-install Halflife 2?

Because it requires 4.5 gigabytes of space that you could otherwise use for porn.

I haven't finished the game yet, but when I do, I'll still keep it on my system because of the hot mods that are going to come out soon. If there were no mods, I would go ahead and uninstall it.. but take a look at what's going to come out:

Awesome

If i had to reinstall halflife2 CSS and hlDM. One thing that i will not look forward to is having to download all those update. :flame:

That will take forever on mine and that is why i will not unistall the three games.

I've just left it on my HDD. I still play CS:Source and am 1/4 of the way through HL2 again in Hard mode. I keep a close eye on the mods, so it's worth leaving HL2 on just to try them out as they develop.

Even something as 'pointless' as Garrys Mod [no disrespect to the mod, by that I mean no action or end goal] is worth a looksie.

Sorry, but I don't see the point in leaving the game on for mods that are at least one to two years from completion.

I was really hoping that Valve had additional single-player content to offer up following the initial release.

And I'm sure there will be, but how many other games have released single-player add-ons within 4 months of putting out the game? Not many, I think you'll find.

A bit of patience is needed here. Don't forget you've DOD:Source coming to beta any time soon as well and that should fairly rock.

I haven't really been paying attention lately, but aren't the "ATI-levels" due soon? Or are they already out? Assuming you've got the hardware to run it those might be nice...

Nothing for now, IMHO. It will surely take several more months for some good mods to be released, as they take a lot of time, and unfortunately, there aren't really many good SP maps either for HL2. Which is, to me, rather disappointing - I had expected some quality maps to be out. The Roboss is nice, but other than that... hmm.

On the other hand, CSS is getting constant updates. If you're into it, then you can reinstall and enjoy.

There's been quite a bit of content for multiplayer but nothing for SP (directly from Valve, that is). In MP we've gotten HL2DM, HL2DM updates with new weapons and stuff, and a bunch of CS:S maps and updates. I think the only SP thing will be ATI level. The community stuff has been pretty good but feels more like you're having a sneak peak at works in progress rather than playing 'professional-level mods': CTF, Source Racer, Das Roboss, Gary's mod, etc.

I am waiting for several mods to finish. I have been watching many in development; as soon as they release I will be hosting it on the cryosynthesis servers to help mirror and distribute there such mods and help promote the mod itself. :D

this thread seems like a "hah look at me i'm badass because my high standards of gaming are sick of hl2 and i've uninstalled it!"

but if your questions are genuine. dude - it takes time to make games. the game just came out 5 months ago. and they are continually releasing stuff for cs source. hl2 isn't meant to have levels tacked on. wait a while for an official expansion.
