Hi, i am new to this forum and i have a question:

Couple of days ago, i odrered an Alienware System with the following components:
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2
Chassis: Alienware® Full-Tower Case (480-Watt PS) - Martian Red
Power Supply: Alienware® 480 Watt Power Supply
Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor w/ HT Technology 3.0GHz
Motherboard: Alienware® Motherboard with Intel® 875P Chipset
Memory: 1GB Alienware® High-Performance Low-Latency DDR SDRAM - 2 x 512MB
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA® GeForce™ 6800 GT 256MB DDR3 w/Digital and S-Video Out
System Drive: High Performance - Serial ATA - 80GB Seagate® Barracuda 7,200 RPM w/8MB Cache

Now, i was planning on OC the GPU and the CPU to atleast 3.2GHZ (if possible, need all the help i could get), and i was wondering how much fps will i be getting on 1600x1200 w/ 4xAA and 4xAF. I do not want any benchmarking results from other websites, as i already have researched this and got 20 different results. I would like someone with similar or close to specs as mine to answer this for me.

Thanks alot every1,
Soulray

I did buy the game its just ill get the PC in about 15 days and i cant wait, so im just curious.

Well, I don't have a similar system, but you FR will be good, even at 1600x1200 and stuff...
...can't believe you bought an Alienware though... way more expensive than building your own PC

y does it matter u will get high fps commen sense with that rig

yea im with yellonet on this one...why oh why would you buy from alienware....im assuming that system cost you somewhere around $2000-2500? ...u coulda saved a pretty penny building it yourself..and it coulda been much faster

I think this is some kind of bragging post...Also, you wasted your money, you could've saved soooo much money. You're paying for the case.

what will i be able to run HL2 at? (i didnt want to make another thread)
p4 [email protected]
512mb Ram pc3200 (might be a gig in a couple of days)
geforce 5200
asus p4p800s mobo

thanks

If your using the correct drivers, you will probably obtain about 50 frames at 1600x1200 w/ 4xAA and 4xAF. If your overclocking by 20-40% (both CPU and GFX card) you will probably get about 60 frames as an average, but probably more.

I agree with the rest of these fella's, going the alienware route is the downright stupid route. And if your excuse is "I dont want to build my own PC, but I had the money for an alienware" you just got ripped off BIG time.

with a geforce 5200, you can't expect much. Regardless of your CPU (which looks great), you have potentially the very worst GFX card of its time. I believe a geforce 4 Ti 4200 or higher would outperform that 5200.

How much did u buy the alienware for, u just got ripped the **** off.

About 40% of your $ is for the name alone, i just built my own computer for 800$ and its better than that shit, just about. (besides gfx card)

Specs:

Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP1
Processor: P4 3.2 GHz 800MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache w/ Hyper Threading Technology
MotherBoard: Intel D865PERL
Case: 10-Bay Black ATX Window Case
Power Supply: Ultra X-Connect 500W Blue ATX Power Supply w/Dual Fans
HDD: Maxtor 233GB 8200RPM 8MB Cache
RAM: 4 x 512MB DDR400 PC-3200 (2GB DDR400 PC-3200)
Graphics Card: Albatron nVIDIA GeForce FX5700 Video Card, 256MB DDR, 128-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP

Word of warning!

If the motherboard is similar to an Intel (Which it looks like) you may find that Overclocking is impossible. It is almost impossible to overclock on a standard Intel motherboard as Intel disable it.

yea it will, hahaha out dated my white ass u nub, i play with 125 fps....idiot

Hey fellas,
I guess we started off at a wrong foot. Why the heck does it matter for you guys, can you just answer my simple question and not critisize me and not act like my accountant. Now, red_LED i appreciate you answering my question, unlike everyone else.

Thanks,
Soulray

haha. This is just a thread to brag about his new system he KNOWS will work fine :p

I have those same specs, it will be fine at 1024x768 no AA of AF and meduim settings.

seriously i spent $970 on my new system and it would tear up that alienware easily. anyways i guess you would be ok at 1600x1200.

depends if you like to play with vsync or not. if u got a good monitor with a high refrsh rate then go for it. try it out.

I apreciate those answers that arent critisizing me, what exactly does Vsync do, my monitor is a 23" running at 1280x960 @ 85gertz.

It syncs the number of frames per second the game is drawing with the number of scans your monitor is doing per second. You then get one game frame per monitor scan. This eliminates the 'tearing' effect you get if the game is running at a higher fps than your monitor scans at. For some, this is a great irritant, but not so for others.

soulray that means if u turn on vsync you'll run at 85fps, but no more than that unless, u turn off vsync.

Anyone know how to get hl2 coop to work after I unzipped the file??
