Not a fan of CS, and HL2DM/TDM got old too fast in my opinion... And so back into the HL1 mods I go...

Anybody else really hoping a HL2 mod, ANY HL2 mod, comes out very very soon? Anybody got any idea which mod teams are likely to be finished first?

Insurgency???

I also want DoD:S to come out soon, but havent seen much media on that...

Getting sick of?
What?! Dude... it takes awhile to make a good MOD.

I'm waiting on DOD:S and The Specialists:S. :D

You can bet that the mod that finishes first will be the one that sucks first.

It's just how it happens. Any mod that rushes to be done, or didn't have much to do in the first place, isn't going to be quality.

I'm waiting for Eternal Silence 2 (who isnt? lol), Dragonball Adventures, Insect Infestation, The Haunted, FireWar, Elysium 2028, and others.

Ok fine, "getting sick of" was a poor choice of words... I'm just getting a tad impatient I know...

I was just trying to probe the community and see what people in general were waiting on, and what was most likely to arrive first in order to "tide me over" until my picks such as Sven Coop, Day of Defeat and (hopefully, though nothing has been announced) Natural Selection make an appearance.

just know this, a good decent mod to come out, it will take at least a year of development

Insurgency because people from the Red Orchestra staff are involved in it. Red Orchestra is by far the most professional mod ever released for any FPS.

I just want a remake of Redemption. That was such a fun mod I thought.

That was exactly what I was going to say.

so really then... I guess Sven Coop could be the first out the door after all... Only because really they've got the least to do...

I'm not really interested in any of the "new" HL2 mods, and I'm more interested in some of the existing Half-Life 1 mods being redone for the Source engine.

With redone I mean taking advantage of the new engine, although that would take, obviously, longer.

I know how you feel. I have been waiting forever for a good mod to come out like DoD:S or TS:S. CS:S just got old really quick aswell as HL2: DM. :afro:

I'd love to see Azure Sheep, Poke646 and Darkstar remade in the Source engine. Those were some of my favourite HL1 mods. And by "remade", I don't mean remade HL1:Source style, I mean remade!

I just really really want some more singleplayer content. Doesn't have to be a mod or anything, just a scenario where I can fight against combine again rather than annoying ant lions!

Hoping for good remakes of Natural Selection and The Specialists for the Source engine.

And ofcouse a good horror mod and Sven Coop 2!

But some people should understand that making a good playable flawless mod takes alot of time, the full sdk is released only 2 months ago...

You can stop waiting for that, since the developers of The Specialists are attention-seeking and ungrateful whiny bastards. They are having a jolly good time on their forums flaming their own community, stating that all fans should damn well be content with their 2.1 version for HL1. They don't deserve any praise.

Edit: Er. Natural Selection: Source is what I'm expecting the most eagerly. I'd be happy to see any good mod for HL2, though.

Wait for just SIX months. It'll take awhille for programmers to get used to the SDK, and for Valve to finish releasing ALL of the SDK goods (e.g. ability to create custom shaders). By then, you'll see a lot of mods rolling out, similar to with UT2004. Heck, it took not even 6 months to see a fair number of UT2004 mods.

I agree, unfortunately all the new maps seem to be deathmatch which is a shame :(

I think Sven Co-Op will either be the first mod out, or the first mod out that gets people's attention. At first they have the least to do of course... Co-Op through Half-Life 2's singleplayer would be fantastic. Then it develops from there with new stories and such...

Of course, there'll always be a dark void in my heart that could be filled with a Science & Industry: Source / 2 sized hole... *sigh*

Yeah guys, I wouldn't expect to see any official NS ports to source... Their lead designer, Flayra, has stated time and again that he wishes he had charged money for NS and that NS2 will without a shadow of a doubt be a fully commerical release, which I think is why they were looking at other engines besides source to do it on: they didn't want to use source if the EULA stated they couldn't make any money off of it. Fortunately though, it seems Valve will let mod makers make money off their creations this time round, so hopefully the NS dev team will come around and give us what we all want on the platform we all want it on!

... Even if it wont be free...

I'm in a wait-and-check-back mode. I won't really get excited for any of these MODs until I hear news of a beta. Really looking forward to DoD:S though. ;)
In the meantime I'm playing WoW and HL2LDM/CS:S. :p

I know the feeling. I'd play anything right now, so long as it's a mod for HL2.

But I'm being impatient. When I look at the Unreal or even the HL1 mod community, I have to remind myself that it took some time for them to get to where they are.

Any way, I check out HL2.net, the HL2 section of FilePlanet, and HL2files on a daily basis for anything I can sink my teeth into.
