Anyone?

Yes I know its little improvement over the DS lite but GAME are offering ?75 trade in! So you get a new DSi for half price :D

Picking my Black one up on Friday.. with a couple of games probally.. cant wait!

Why would I pay 75 quid for a thinner ds lite with a crappy camera? o_O

I hear all the new online functionality is where it's at, but I'm not interested. I'm buying Pokemon and calling it quits because I've already spent far too much on games for my DS as is.

I'm tempted, but probably won't.

I've always kinda wanted a DS. Maybe I'll get this.

take a good hard look at the games because unlike the PSP, there is not much else you can do with that system. I bought it and barely played it because I outgrew Nintendo for the most part

There are great games aplenty for the DS, and quite a few threads listing them.

outgrew Nintendo for the most part

Yeah yeah ;)

I play my DS most days on the train. The games may not be for everyone, but i've been having a great time with the old school stuff. Castlevania, rpgs, turnbased strat etc. Of course, China Town Wars is the best thing to ever grace a handheld :)

Has anyone played Henry Hatsworth? It's probably my next game - looks like a great mix of 2d platform/adventure and puzzle.

I havnt tried out china town wars.. might have to pick that up. Also wanna try out professor layton but cant find a cheap copy on ebay :(

Got one this weekend. I've been wanting to buy a handheld for ages, and Warbie's review of GTA Chinatown Wars sold the DS to me. Lovely little piece of gadgetry.

Can you get any good games for the DS?
I've always wanted a DS

Get a DSi? Why, how would C****DS work?

No but seriously, the feature set sucks for the doubled price markup, AND you loose the GBA backwards compatability which is a shin-kicker if you were in the handheld market for those days too. If the DSi is your wakeup call for getting the system, just pick yourself a DS original up.

Haven't bought a handheld since the GBA, I've always been tempted to get a DS but none of the games really interest me.
I mean, aside from GTA:CW.

But then again, I don't have any real use for a handheld... since I drive everywhere I go and I have my cellphone to keep me entertained if I get stuck waiting anywhere.

Not a hope am I getting it unless an Advance Wars DSi comes out. I like my big chunky DS. I don't even like the DS Lite.

I keep buying random games for my DS, but play for 5 days and put it on the shelf. Bah. I really should play it more.

No more pal park. :(

Already about 70 hours on Platinum. More than most of the other games I play nowadays combined.

I think I've probably got quite a few straight days put into my DS. I still use the old crappy gray brick rather than a DS Lite. Mario Kart and Metroid really added up the most.

Been browsing through reviews on Metacritic and these are the titles I came up with as possible buys:
  • CoD:WaW (hasn't been out very long; anyone play this yet?)
  • TrackMania (since I am a big fan of the series on PC)
  • Advance Wars: Dual Strike (Is this really a must have? It looks so cartoony.)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (worth it if you've basically never played a Zelda game?)
  • 42 All-Time Classics ("It is, basically, a country pub, a students' union and a 1970s suburban dinner party (minus the rosé and marital infidelity) all rolled into one, packed onto a tiny game card and put at the tip of your stylus." Sounds like my kind of game lol)
Am I missing anything? Suggest away since I currently only own GTA.

Hurm, didn't know they had WaW, would probably look into it a little more before buying.

Some games I'd recommend off the top of my head:

-Super Mario 64 DS (basically a slightly prettier Super Mario 64 port, with 30 more stars and a little bit of change as far as playing as Wario, Luigi, Yoshi through those)
-Mario Kart (I recommend this with all my heart)
-Metroid Prime: Hunters (Very fun, it's got sweet controls, a decent SP, and a pretty fun online mode to play)

There are a lot more, but I'm drawing a blank. I'm sure Warbie will fill you in on anything your list is missing though ;) I enjoyed Advanced Wars a lot, but if you've never played one before, you should try it out before buying.

[*]Advance Wars: Dual Strike (Is this really a must have? It looks so cartoony.)

Kill yourself immediately.

Games to add to that list:

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure
Retro Game Challenge
Rhythm Tengoku (english version has awful dubbing on the vocal songs)
Wario Ware: Touched
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
The World Ends With You
Moon

-Super Mario 64 DS (basically a slightly prettier Super Mario 64 port, with 30 more stars and a little bit of change as far as playing as Wario, Luigi, Yoshi through those)
64 DS is ok, but it controls like a turd.

New Super Mario Bros. all the way. It's the only game I'd be gutted to have never played.

I go against COD:WAW and etroid simply because I find FPS's a bugger to control on the DS.

Miss Henry Hatsworth at your peril - it is one of my favourite DS games. Avoid if you don't like platform games and beware that it starts to get hard around 2/3 through. Otherwise buy it!!! it's superb :)

Advance Wars is very good - well worth getting if you're into turn based strat games. If that's your thing, also check out Fire Emblem, FF Tactics, Disgaea etc. They do look overly cute, but are solid games.

If you like JRGs then you're spoilt for choice - the DS is the best platform for this bar none.

New Super Mario and Mario Kart are musts and Zelda is good, but not great.

Yoshi's Touch and Go makes better use of the stylus and touch screen than any other DS game. If you like score chasing, this is a must. Kirby Magic Paintbrush/Canvas Curse is also great fun - a bit like Yoshi's Touch and Go, but more traditional and level based. You could probably get these both for cheap.

There are loads of good DS games, the tricky part is filtering out all the crap.

I would say avoid the FPSs on DS because they seriously are balls, really. Exception of Metroid, if you're into it - personally I found my hand exploding and dying.

Pick up Chrono Trigger, I hear it's good.

Phantom Hourglass is a recommendation, it was the first (and only) Zelda game I have owned and played to completion, good fun, not much replay value but.

The Entire Phoenix Wright series is a must have. Bang-up translation job, incredible work, good logic puzzles for you to muck with.

If Rhythm games are your thing, I cannot stress enough Elite Beat Agents and Osu Tatakae Ouendan 1 & 2.

Good job on picking up GTA though, it's my most pick-up-and-get-a-six-star-wanted level and blow shit up of all my games.

Chrono Trigger is fun,
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin or Dual Strike is great, wonderful TB strategy. DoR is less cartoony, more grimdark, plus disease that makes you die from sprouting flowers, always cool.
POKEMON.

This is my first post made on these forums with my new DSi. It's also very likely my last, since navigating is a bit akward. Mobile friendly sites should be no problem tho. Nice addition. Gonna see what other stuff the online store has. I have quite a bit of points to spend.

I can't recommend Advance Wars enough. I think AW2 (a GBA game) has the best campaign. Dual Strike has the most variety of units, commanders and modes. Dark Conflict is also good though I'm not a massive fan of the changed art style.

The first Phoenix Wright is great. I haven't played the others but according to my mate they're not as good. Especially musicwise.

Metroid is also great, if you don't mind severe hand cramps.
