I've got a 6800 GT and i can't go for 3 or 4 seconds without the game stuttering in MP like mad. What the heck is wrong? Fastwrites are off, the game works fine in SP but in MP it stutters like mad.

Lag, man. Lag.

The servers are being put through their paces atm.

Im getting that on most servers, even though my ping is like 15ish. Shame. Cant wait for it to improve.

I was getting some awful stuttering in MP, yes - often periods of hanging that lasted a few seconds, which isn't helpful when doing something like flying. Anyway, I turned down Shadows, Dynamic Lights and Lighting to medium and it's sorted now. I don't know which one was affecting it, but I'll have a play around with them later to find out.

3.0Ghz, 1GB RAM, x800 Pro by the way.

I had a little play arround eariler. I have a 9800 pro and for me it was dynamic lighting. I turned it off and now it runs pretty much fine..

Ah okay, good. At least it's something that's not hugely impacting the graphical quality of the game ;)

lol, yeah and what you dont know cant hurt you.. (since when its on its so slow you can't tell that any light is dynamic at all!) :p

i've got everything down on medium and it still stutters like ****ing crazy and its driving me insane...i have quite a good machine aswell

yeah i played in single play for a couple of hours, no stuttering whatsoever, went into mp and 20mins in it started to stutter:( rest assured the servers can only get better :)

yeah same probs here. i have a 3.2ghz p4, gig of ddr2 ram and a x800xt and it stutters like crazy in mp with good pings too, sp is fine, mp is laggy, stuttery and very poor fps at times. my ping rarely goes high, stays aound 40.

i installed the 5.1 cats like said but it crashed the first time i played with them to desktop, then when i loaded back up it crashed the whole machine, got the blue screen of death, eek.

gona reinstall it now, see if that helps.

Lanparty nf3 250gb mobo
AMD Athlon 3400+ 64bit proc (2.41ghz)
3x 512mb OCZ Platinum
evga 6800gt 256mb vid card

Even on the lowest settings possible I stutter when a few tanks are in my fov or any explosions..it's horrible. I'd like to think my pc isn't that outdated.

Runs very well on my comp, even on a 64 player’s server it runs surprisingly well.

I have

3.0 Ghz
1GB RAM
Geforce 6600 GT

I was getting what you guys were before, so I turned off lighting, shadows, and AA (shadows look like shit anyway, plus I don't even notice) and then have a mix of high and medium settings. That fixed it, and the game still looks great, I didn't notice a difference in quality of graphics really from before and then the FPS was now at a decent level. I'm thinking it's like marksman said being the lighting though. Try that off.

yeah i lowered aa and that sorted a good majority of my stutter, game crashes all the time though, its prolly a driver issue with my ati card, hopefully it'll be fixed, 5.6s and 5.1s had corruption.

Same for me it just shuts off. The screen will just go away and it'll be gone from taskbar and not on anymore.

when i quit bf2 aswell, it takes my commy about 5 minutes to fully calm down

Have you tried the Omega Drivers? I'd suggest trying them as they have solved a lot of problems with the official ATi drivers. With the current set of Omega Drivers, I haven't had the game crash once. Check them out at the following address:

midn posting your specs?

Pentium 4 3.4GHz HTT Prescott
1024 MB DDR2 533Mhz (PC4300)
GeForce 6800 256MB PCI-E

The stuttering has a lot to do with your RAM (unless you have a very slow net connection). On 128MB videocards try setting textures to low, 256MB cards to medium and 512 cards to high. You can change these setting depending on system ram. 512 ram is low, 1024 is medium and 2048 is high. Other then that it is the game engine i suppose.

I have a 256mb card. It was stuttering like crazy on High (which is a shame because in SP on High it runs perfectly) and i turned it down to Medium and now it works like a dream.

I had this exact same problem. Turning everything down didn't do crap. I found a fix and can run everything on max while running a constant 60FPS.

I disabled fast writes in bios. Look around for AGP fast writes and disable that. It worked for me with a 6800GT, game runs great now.

hmm i just switched sound to hardware from software and my stutter seems to have gone, only get it a few times, maybe you guys should try it.

I get that too, although it's more like 1 minute, but still annoying. When i press ctrl+alt+del to check processes, the bf2 demo is still running even though i quit, using anything between 400 and 700mb of memory. Wierd.
