Anyone else think the ending...sucked?

If there's a glados on Borealis, I hope that it might have started from the same seed code but self-evolved (the genetic algorithmic part; edit: if it has recursion back onto itself anyway) to be a different 'individual'. I'd hate for Ep3 just to be another evil-glados turning the game into Portal-with-Gordon.

I reckon that all the problems Black Mesa had on that fateful morning of the test, was caused by GLaDOS. She caused viruses, system crashes and all the like...

After all, it seems to be that whether or not the crystal was inserted, it wouldn't of had any affect on the whole facility before the experiment. It is possible that the Gman was the participant of the aperture science test, and is now working alongside GLaDOS

Portal-with-Gordon eh?
hmm...

Think there will be a companion cube on the Borealis?

I've seen the quotes by Gabe Newell a few times around the net. I'll try to find it for ya.

He specifically said that he foresees her being a part of Episode Three.

Brb.

Yeah and he doesn't say that at all in the Portal preview video.

I had problems with it too. It would buffer fine maybe a couple of times and then buffer the next clip forcing me to start the process all over again.

Try watching the correct video. He specifically states that Chell will play a part in the HL2 universe and will develop a relationship with the characters we currently are involved with in the main series.

Look for the video "X-Play Preview: PORTAL"

Gabe says it all in his own words.

Perhaps we should sticky this since I've seen about 50 people on these forums saying these are manufactured comments and don't actually exist anywhere.

If that's not the right one then try telling me which is.

And this is what you originaly said, which is wrong based on the video I saw.

Balls.

No Ep3 for me.

Chell is the mind of the Combine, following GLaDOS's test where she proved she could correctly wield portal technology. Although GLaDOS said she erased that iteration of Chell, she lied, and in fact installed it in her androids, that later, perhaps thousands of years later, became the combine army and used the technology during the Portal Storms. The Combine are still in fact controlled by the evolved AI of GLaDOS, and she can be heard in the voice commands of the Combine Overwatch.

G-Man, the CEO of aperture, delivered the crystal to Black Mesa during Half Life 1 as per the instructions of GLaDOS, as a way to both sabotage the rival company and also to see what she would be like in the future - the resonance cascade created a portal in space AND time, research that GLaDOS was very interested in.

However, due to either seeing the hellish evil that GLaDOS would become in the future, or by some side effect of portal travel, G-Man C Johnson decides to no longer obey GLaDOS, and in future Half Life games seeks to bring down the combine and destroy both present and future iterations of GLaDOS by any means necessary, as he is responsible for the creatures' creation.

And yes, in case you were wondering, G-Man has charge of the military in Half Life 1 because he has successfully infiltrated it thoroughly by assassinating all opposers via poisoned shower curtains.

Why?! This has to be the third time I've asked you. What's the problem?

What could be so damaging about linking Portal and Half-Life together... which they already are.

The ending was awesome. If mystifying.

Androids? The combine soldiers aren't andriods. The combine have been around long before Half-life 1. Marc Laidlaw said that the creatures on Xen fled there from the combine. Thousands of years later? The Episode One website confirms that HL2 is only nearly two decades after HL1. The portal storms were caused by the nihilanths death, and the combine forced their way through by wideing them.

The fact that the episode one website says the gman is an interdimensional buercrat proves this section wrong.

G-Man wasn't in charge of the military in HL1. And the idea that he assisnated his opposers is ridiculous.

I'm sure you'll not take a word of this in, and continue to post ridiculous theories with no evidence however. Good day.

Yah. You realise he was joking? D:

I tought the ending sucked but not because of the unanswered questions. It's HL, would be like beer with no alcohol. I just wanted to really escape myself to the outside world. What if the explosion created a hole in the roof and you had to slingshot, bounce your way trough it, to the outside world... But that's my only complaint. For the rest I' loved every bit of it. Best gaming experience since HL2, but I haven't played Ep2...maybe this evening/night - I had PC troubles and I only installed the orange box 2 days ago- It sure was a test in patience ;)

I would have done the end different. But I didn't think what they did was bad. Ya had to end it some how, why not with a bang?
