Anyone get there hands on the PS3?

Has anyone got their hands on playing the PS3 yet at any of the retail stores? If so, what did you think about it after you played it?
 
Tomorrow I will be able to test a PS3 at my local Gamestop.


I walked in there today and saw this huge 6' tall box. I asked the guy what it was, and he said that it was the PS3 kiosk, but he didn't know where to put it as of yet. Tomorrow is the day he said it will be connected and playable.
 
after reading the analises..no more ps3..screw ps3

I'd like to hear how their blatent ripoff of the Wii controller innovation turned out...
 
I played Ridge Racer at a kiosk, I can't really say much about it except that it's just another racing game that looks pretty.
 
played motorstorm at best buy, used the sixaxis controls... took a little getting used to, the graphics were awesome, the game was a lot of fun really.
 
Nope. Probably not til next year. I will likely get a 360 first and maybe even a Wii before investing in this guy. Next year's going to be expensive though...:(
 
i wonder if someone will just wait in line and end up buying a 360 instead lol
 
Everything i've heard about the ps3 so far seems very meh

Hehe, pretty much everyone who've played Motorstorm has said the same thing. :)
Was it easy to pick up and play? And the framerate, how was it?
 
lol my local EB games , which is in a heavyily populated area (2 in fact within walking distance of each other) are getting 6 ps3 ..at one of the stores they have 8 pre-orders (their limit) ..the local best buy wont say how much it has but it's advertising that it's opening early on launch day (when is it btw?) ..they have max 16 ..why are they opening out early if they'll sold out in 10 mins? cuz they're thinking "cha-ching, we have all these gamers here lets play on their frustration at not getting a ps3" ..xbox 360's are on sale ..free game ..i think it's a crappy one


there seems to be some truth to that report that less ps3s are being shipped than what they said a few weeks back

Yes, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. Not sure if Sony has commented on it yet either. Link.
 
Loke, the framerate was solid, it was super easy to pick up and play, especially if you just stuck with the analog controls. The shoulder buttons (r1/2, and l1/2) now feel like triggers and are more responsive, you use r2 to accelerate, x for boost, etc. The lighting is damn near amazing in that game, sound seemed excellent although I was in best buy so there was a lot going on. The crashes are fun to watch. You really do get the feeling of driving really fast, the track seems to deform under your vehicles making it even more difficult the more laps you drive, which adds a neat challenge when you're racing to the finish.

I'd definately pick this one up. But I'm also a fan of sony products in general so I may not be the best source for info/opinion on the ps3 :p

Heh, I can't say I'm not the same. Probably more than half of the electronics in my house is made by Sony. :p
 
Played Resistance.

A polished PS2 game, IMHO. Simply don't see the appeal in running out the first day and paying top dollar for something like that. I'll be waiting for either a used one or several price reductions. Finally bought a PS2 Slim last month w/ ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and SFA Collection, a mem card, extra controller...worth every penny of the $160 I spent.

Overall...I say meh...just wait for a nice big price drop...probably coincide with the death of BluRay or a combined format.

Buy Pro Evolution Soccer 4.

It's gotta be about $10 USD now, and i've spent hundreds of hours playing that game. Its easily one of the best ps2 games there is.
 
Apparently even less then expected will be in-stock in America which could lead to a further delayed release of the PS3 in August.

Go Sony!

everyone I know that is standing infront of our Towncenter Best Buy and Walmart are going to sell the PS3 right away. :-\
 
When is it out? I found it quite amusing seeing all the information about Wii's and 360's being playable in stores than the PS3 is out in kiosks and it's just like ''Yeah, that gaming console.. the PSwhatsit, is over there.. might have a go... probably not, gotta go now anyway''

ya most who are standing in the lines have that same plan. so they will make thousands on there ps3 purchase.
 
I pre-orderd mine from Rogers video (Canadian company). I ordered the 60gig version. Rogers sent me an e-mail saying they have recieved no 60gig systems in time for launch..they do have enough 20gig systems though, and asked if I wanted to switch to the 20gig system so I could get one on launch..I said no. The 20gig sucks. Looks like I'll be waiting another week or 2 at the very least...but I'm not that anxious like those people who camp out at stores a week before launch. I can wait a little longer..doesn't bother me one bit. I have to get my new TV first anyway.

I got myself a Sony Bravia LCD 32V2000 a few days ago, bought it mostly for PS3. Super sharp and clean screen, amazingly beautiful colours too.

I am probably gonna get the 46 inch samsung 1080p TV (just got a new job :p ). But I'm still deciding...it's hard to choose a good TV.
 
1080p gonna have to wait, just too expensive for me. :p

Oh, and Half-Life 2 looks flaptastic on a HDTV.

I really wish I had pre-ordered a PS3 and just made a couple thousand dollars off it :(
