Anyone here work in retail?

I'm sure most of you have had some experience in retail, be it a supermarket or designer clothes store. You've had at least a few months doing it. Would you folks be interested in a discussion place to moan/gripe about management, talk about working conditions, customer service and legal aspects such as health and safety? I haven't found anywhere that offers this and I'm wondered if you want to see this appear?

I suppose it'd be at least as popular as the politics forum...but since I'm qutting my job soon, I won't need it for very long.

why not a general gripe about jobs forum. I work in an office and sometimes I like to blow off a little steam and complain about the people I work with. I'd visit

A completely seperate site eh? I guess it could work, but I doubt I'd visit it. My time here is becoming smaller as it is, let alone anywhere else.

I know of a lot of people who experience problems working for supermarkets such as disciplinarys for silly things that could be blocked by having some knowledge of the law and union regulations.

The site could help them in this regard as well as provide a place to chat to other workers in the industry.

Yes I do. Yes I want a forum to complain about. Every night after I work I would have something to complain about, like this:

One time, a large fat person went to the bathroom. When he came out, I was ordered to go in because this fatty (henceforth "fatty") is known to leave bodily fluids all over the bathroom floor. Fortunatly, it wasnt fluids this time; it was his own defecation which he kindly wiped all over the walls. Now, being a minor myself, I couldnt touch it, cause its against the law. So, I called my buddy (henceforth "Alcoholic") who has the same job as I do (and he's 38 years old) to clean it up (we dont really clean messes, but sometimes during busy days we have to). 20 minutes later he's not done, and I walk in and see him in the bathroom stall, and I hear a little "fap fap fap" and I know what it is. I know what it is. I could see his hand moving. Theres still poop on the floor and into the hallway so I leave and never return.

Good idea Munro, a forum for moaning about work is great... but keeping a whole site to just supermarket and shop workers would decrease your user base allot, go for offices too and general white collar workers.

It would be great to have the employment laws in plain english for us all to see, so many times im sure my bosses kept me behind after hours for whatever reason without pay to do things. So yeah, go for it. I'd sign up, although i dont work in the industry anymore, plenty of people do have some experience.

It would be great to have the employment laws in plain english for us all to see, so many times im sure my bosses kept me behind after hours for whatever reason without pay to do things. So yeah, go for it. I'd sign up, although i dont work in the industry anymore, plenty of people do have some experience.

I've never stayed behind unless I chose to...especially not for no pay.

My manager always says things like "We're not going home till this is done" When there is a lot to do. I'm just like "No...You're not going home. I'm gonna leave you to sort out this mess with the night staff". He can't do anything either except get frustrated.

I work at Target, which is a department store like Walmart.
