If so, how is it? I loved the other ones for the GBA. I saw the DS version scored well at gamespot. I was thinking of getting a DS just for AW : DS. I don't know if there are other DS games out there that would make this purchase even more reasonable than it already seems.

It's apparently more of the same (which can't be anythingbut great :)) - but with the benefits of stylus control and 2 screens for a larger viewable map. My copy is in the post as we speak.

There are also many, many good DS games either out at the moment (some in Japan only) or being released this side of Christmas. For the last 4 months the DS has easily been my favourite gaming platform - excellent piece of kit.

ooh ooh ooh!!!! i loved AW on the gba!!!! ima get a DS jus for that

I don't have AW but I'll get it as soon as I have money.

I hate to say it....but Nintedogs looks sweet.

Well I ran out during lunch and bought a DS and AW: DS. I only did 2 campaign missions thus far, but so far so good. It is more of the same-ish (after 2 missions) but like Warbie said, that's a good thing. Just enough improvements so far to differentiate itself from AW2 for the GBA, while not making extreme changes that would ruin the feel.

Warbie, if you had to list one DS game that you'd recommend most, what would it be?

That's a tough one, Fishlore. Band Bros. is superb in multiplayer. Meteos is also excellent (on par with Lunines on the PSP imo). I greatly enjoyed Yoshi's Touch and Go and Kirby's Canvas Curse. Wario Ware is the perfect game for playing 'on the move'.

There's quite a few other games out at the moment on my 'must buy' list (Jump Superstars, Electroplankton, Ouendan, Another Code ....) and literally loads in production (the new Sonic vids made my jaw hit the floor. The thought of online Mario Kart also gave me a semi)

Based on the games i've played - if you have friends with a DS then Band Bros. is probably the way to go. If you are after a single player game, and don't mind the sugar coated cuteness of Kirby, then Canvas Curse is a fine choice.

(I won't start on the games coming out soon that look sweet for fear of not stopping and boring you to death)

Thanks Warbie, I might go with Kirby or Meteos next. Unfortunately I don't any friends that have a DS yet. I'll have my hands full with AW for a while though. Sept 5 or 9 is when my next "must buy" comes out even though it's a GBA game. I can still play it on the DS right?

If you liked Xcom UFO defense, the same makers made a similar game for the GBA. Looks cool even though a few of the PC features didn't make the cut. Rebelstar Tactical Command I believe is the name.

Thanks again. Off to destroy the Black Hole army.

I'll check it out. And yes, you can have a GBA and DS game in the machine at one time (which is very cool :))

I've had Advance Wars in my DS since day one.

DS rocks...I'm getting AW:DS for my B-day soon. I've played and beaten both of the previous titles, and they rocked. I can easily recommend to anyone a DS, but not a PSP in good conscience...

Let's not go down that route again pls :)

After a night of playing AW, I can firmly say I really enjoy it. Had my first 2 front battle. The top screen had action at 33,000 ft with bombers and fighters while the bottom screen had action at ground level. You can send units from the main front (bottom screen) up to the second front, but can't bring them back.

The tag team effect when using 2 COs is cool, but being on the receiving end of a tag team super power sucks. I haven't seen the new units (stealth fighter, megatank, black boats and the black bombs) yet except for a few of Black Hole's new inventions. The stylus control is really nice and intuitive too.

Sounds excellent :)

*waits impatiently for the post to arrive*

My copy arrived today :)

Loving the stylus control and the use of the extra screen for unit info etc. Other than that this is the Advance Wars we all know and love :bounce:

Have you gotten to the multiple fronts yet? It's a very nice addition. The first mission you can't control the action, but they allow you to control the second front a few missions later. I definitely like the stylus control too.

Haven't got to multiplae fronts yet - something to look forward to :)

I've only one gripe - you need two copies of the game to play link-up. Otherwise it's all good :afro:

Played it at my local Gamestop, and I am getting it for my birthday later this month. I just picked up Nintendog's last week, and I friggin think it rocks. I recommend getting Nintendog's to anyone who owns a DS.

Just got it yesterday...I don't think I need to say it kicks a**. My only gripe is that design maps hasn't changed much except you can place 10 more bases and there are the new units...

Nintendogs is on my list, Vigilante :) (after the surgery game that has been making Japanese people throw up :))

I'm also desperate for multiplayer Jump Superstars and some Osu! Tatakae! Oendan!
