anyone still really play?

just started playing a little again after having taken a break.

the game is still good, but there's something missing. Art direction wise Oblivion is just boring comparing to Morrowind with it's alien landscapes, even oblivion is boring and way too close to the usual depiction of hell.

another thing is that I can't seem to find anymore side quests....wonder if I've done them all....I'm about to do the final stages of the main quest...then I think I will start up a new char.

Mmmm... it suffers slightly from being 'too open ended', in that despite being a fairly large world there's not a lot to do that doesn't involve kicking the crap out of things.

I think it sucks like crap now but I've played it for way too long. (150 hours)

I have played for 50+ hours and I haven't even started with the main quest yet. Do you think it's time?

just loaded it up now for the first time in months, starting with a new character, anyone recommend some decent mods? particurlarly leveling mods?

I discovered a strange method of cave exploring I quite enjoy, upping the difficulty and entering a cave with no armour/clothes; and seeing how you get on.

All I take is a sword (or whatever weapon your chracter is adept with), my basic alchemy tools and a handful of repair hammers. Obviously this allows you to carry more, but you take more damage and all of that. It's quite interesting to see what equipment/potions/scrolls you end up with. I only recommend this method at least to level 10 characters and above. And Ayleid ruins can be bloody tough.

At the end of the day, naked spelunking = profit.

TBH, the main quest is a piece of shite.

wow, i thought i was alone in feeling this way but i too played it for about a week or two, then got really tired of it and it wasn't fun at all.......

I bought the collectors edition the day it came out and played it almost nonstop for about two weeks. After reaching level 30-ish, I realized that the only thing Oblivion did better than Morrowind was the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood. I stopped playing...

...

Four months later, I still haven't felt the slightest urge to load it back up.

GG Bethesda. You dumbed the game down to make the console kiddies happy and you ended up ruining what was potentially the greatest game in the series so far.

I'm not playing as much as I used to, but that might be because I'm head of every guild in the game and I've beaten the main quest. I'm now desperatly looking for new quests to download, which I can't find any good ones besides the blackrock-lich-king trilogy and the myths and legends weapons. Does anyone know any good quests for download that are entertaining instead of just hunting an extremely hard to find place or fighting an extremely hard to kill foe?

I put in 125 hours into Oblivion and I'm slowing down. I've basically done everything there is so I have no real reason to return to the game world.

Turning the difficulty level all the way to max is fun. Getting raped by wolves even more.

I have only about 20 hours on my file, and I've slowed it down a bunch. I love the game, I just never can find time to sit down and actually play it.

It sounds like a great game from what I've heard.

Seems most people put in +20 hours of gameplay which is a hell of a lot considering how long games are today.

I rented it for the 360, got pretty far, it was awesome but I stopped playing because I'm getting the PC version, and I don't want to do everything on the 360

I found that was the problem with Morrowind

Well, theres a ton of mods comming out for it..Dark Brotherhood Assencion or some such..looks awesome. Basically expanding on the originial dark brotherhood questline. And other mods like that that just keep adding to the game...theres just so much mod potential this game can pretty much never end....ever.

I just started a new char after about 2 months away from the game.

Its pretty much going to be the same as morrowind. Some people will be put off by how little structure and linearity there is to it. Others will be playing for years and years until the next game comes out. The mod scene for morrowind was amazing and for Oblivion its even bigger. A lot of amazing stuff has already come out for it, and more and more stuff will be coming in the next years.

<3 Oblivion.

About the DB mod, yeah I was the original founder of the project. I made the post requesting for help and about continuing the DB concept. Needless to say, it was swept from under my feet.

I don't anymore, sadly. The game had some mad fun attributes to it. I'm finding myself wrapped up in Diablo 2 and City of Heros and Battlefield 2 nowadays...

just started playing a new character... trying out hand to hand combat, mixed with destruction...

it's quite effective so far but then again I'm only lvl 5 and the monsters aren't so tough yet. anyone know if there is any mods enchancing hand to hand combat? e.g. aditinal damage depending on the gauntlets you wear or being able to enhance gauntlets with "on strike"-magic?

I just have a question; is it possible to beat this game?

I've seen my friend play it once, but other than that I don't know much about the game.

Kind of.. But you'd need to be playing for like 1 year straight to get EVERY little quest and easter egg and item to beat it "Fully"

I just have a question; is it possible to beat this game?

Question is... is it possible NOT to beat it? as it's so painfully easy 'n all. Manky whassisname died from just three arrows, go figure.
Unless you mean is it so open ended that you can never actually achieve everything in the game? I found after completing the main quest there was simply no point playing anymore, so just stopped. If that's what you mean, then for me, the answer is no... because I don't really care. Get Gothic 3 instead.

I haven't played it for a while, but that's largely due to the terrible performance I get on my PC, which can run every other modern game just about fine. I'm doing a near-full pc upgrade in a few months, and once that's all set up I'll give it another go, hopefully at max graphics.

I dumped this and went back to Morrowind, theres nothing that beats it in terms of atmosphere and immmershun!111!

And what makes you think Gothic 3 won't be the exact same way?

You're an idiot.

Wow. You didn't do anything with the Dark Brotherhood or the Theives Guild at least?? Friend, you are missing out.

Get Gothic 3 instead.
Not until I see evidence of a nice clean, bug-free game that is much more than playable. That first gold master was a disaster!!

You're an idiot.

Yes, but i'm an informed idiot. Which kind of makes you an uninformed fascist ignoramus. Or a spam bot.

I played through the mages, fighters and dark brotherhood, in that order and got 362 days under my belt - I lived this damn game for the first 2 months. Dark brotherhood was easily the best of the three, but still way too easy to compensate for the lame AI, infantile hand-holding and limp main quest. Even Oscuro's didn't make me want to play it anymore, which is a shame because it was the one game I was expecting to beat the hell out of all others this year.
Maybe you're right, Gothic 3 might not be the answer to life the universe and everything, but it's an alternative to a game of known issues nevertheless.

yes, I couldnt beat it ..I broke Oblivion ..I cant finish the majority of quests for some reason or other ..so I just gave up

I too am looking forward to gothic 3 ..and I'll also shamelessly plug age of conan

A cool game.

Also, the Thieves' Guild was inexplicably awesome. Easily on-par with the DB. If you do anything in Obliv, do that.

Im not playing it anymore...

I bought it, played it for a week but then it got 'repetitive' for me...
Maybe it was to Open for me... I don't know, got bored and fed up...
Just not my kinda game. Also the immersion was less than hoped for.
NPC where NPC's and I had no symphaty or emotion for them...Not like I have with let's say Alex in Ep1....To Bad..

Maybe one day...i'll start it up again...

Not much of a change since I'm playing DEFCON right now...-best game in months, bloody simple and yet brilliant-
