Great SP campaign imo. The first few scenes of the game kind of reminded me of half life 2. The whole urban environment controlled under propaganda and oppression. Hell even the KPA look like Combine and so do their machine turrets. Exactly the same. Game was definitely heavily influenced by it. I enjoyed the SP campaign way more than I did crysis 2 tbh.

For it's mediocre MP, I'd say this is a great rent. Go get it.

I had the exact opposite impression. I hated the campaign (and i am usually a fan of these short, scripted military fps campaigns) but i really enjoyed the multiplayer.....when i did get to get in a game that is -_-

The multiplayer is unbelieveably glitchy and caused my console to hardfreeze about 4 times so i just gave up. If it was cheap and the multiplayer actually got fixed then i'd buy this game. As it stands now tho? Rental at best; worst game of 2011 so far for me

Ouch Lambda, was pondering picking this up to waste some FPS time until Brink but I guess I will pass on this until it is really really cheap, much like I did with the previous title from these guys, Frontlines.

You know that video that the developers of Bulletstorm made a few months back highlighting all of the over-used elements in first-person-shooters?

This game has all of that.

I honestly can't tell the difference between that video and Homefront. It's a colossal "Been there, done that". It has great potential in it's storyline, but it was executed in the worst possible way. It's literally trying so hard to be Call of Duty that it becomes humorous. MP is no different. I'd rather just play Black Ops.

On the brighter side, I do like the various types of weapons. That's really it though. Oh, and the riding the bus scene at the beginning was great. But, I felt cheated five minutes after due to.. well, the obvious points I've already made above. Such potential..

Best be trolling.
Quite serious.

That video is like looking into the future.

Haha, yeah. Watching the video I was thinking to myself "man, this is exactly what me and viper were talking about in the BF3 thread." I wonder if the supporters in that thread think that Homefront's campaign is good.

That looks horrible, and I agree with his rants about excessive scripting in most FPS. Having a few scripted events in a level is fine, but reducing the whole thing to a barely interactive movie? Really?

Able to play it a bit (and by bit I mean devote the two hours it gets to finish three levels) and I can honestly say this:

1. I like the weapons design. They have a nice, worn look, the mods are neat and feel right. The shooting mechanics are decent.
2. The campaign has moments. The labour camp sequence and the burial at the end are great. Too bad the game's shooting sequences are crappy and mar the experience.
3. The characters are about as flat as they can be. Koreans are the stereotypical irredeemable evil stormtroopers, out of the resistance only Rhianna feels like an actual human being, with the black guy coming in second. Hopper is uninteresting (the Goliath has more personality than him), while Connor is just an annoying Captain AMERICA.
4. The story relies on cheap tricks and shock value for the most part. It would help if it made sense too. SK uniting with NK while giving Pyongyang full military authority? Puh-lease.

Except that BF3 actually looks good. I was looking forward to Homefront but not after seeing this.
So you were looking forward to homefront based on the previews and now you see it's shit. Now you're looking forward to bf3 based on the previews and... :O

Eh, should have phrased it a little differently. I knew all along it wasn't going to be a day one purchase for me and I was pretty sure it wasn't going to be a raving success. The previews and videos leading up to it looked interesting (story and concept) but I never really planned on it getting it anyway until it was a bargain buy. Someday I'm sure I'll pick it up once it hits a steam sale (which shouldn't be too long.) I was interested in Homefront until seeing this*.

So what makes you so confident about BF3 then? The fact that it's a sequel to a previous good game?

Because we all know sequels these days are totally faithful to the originals. They're definitely not going to sell out by making shit that models what sells these days.

Beat Homefront in 3 hours and played two multiplayer matches before sending it back to GameFly.

Shitty game.
