This is absurd! Racial profiling AND invasion of privacy AND searching without a warrant? And what were they expecting to find? A .txt file with detailed plans to take over the world? A lengthy email conversation with Osama?

And even if they had the best intentions in mind, it is too easy to go wrong. I mean, do you really think they would destroy the information even if the owner was completely innocent? How secure would that database be? One smart hacker, and we're talking about the personal finances of thousands of people and hundreds of companies.

It amuses me to no end that Mr. Habib, mentioned at the end of the article, has been searched 3 times already. Makes sense though. Arab, Muslim, travels a lot. To a certain kind of person, that probably makes him a prime suspect.

why the **** should i give them my data. even if i don't have anything of national security concern, what if i have pictures of my me and my GF doing some crazy shit...which miraculously ends up on the internet a week later. business data,...for instance i have a pdf copy of "Mein Kampf" on my pc. i'm no nacist or anything i was just curious what kind of book is it. (it's quite well written to be honest-->well written as in fluent and consistent, not talking about ideas in it). if that wouldn't get me into trouble on the airport i don't know what would...oh yes i also have the anarchist cook book (just for kicks). i can already see myself in some Guantanamo hellhole if i ever visited the US.

Its not racial profiling, they stop them based on information about that person's connections, such as which country they're affiliated with.
