Downloading. Curious to see how much different this will be with this new developer.
Well I just finished and I have to say that I didn't want it to end!! My biggest complaints are the mouse sensitivity which even at its lowest is still ridiculous and the voice acting of a few of the characters is worse than horrendous. Other than that, the combat was terrific and actually reminded me of Demon's Souls with its fluidity, but not quite that good as button mashing will beat just about all of the enemies encountered. All in all though, really fun. I will likely be getting this for PC when it drops. Now bring on the Two Worlds 2 demo!!
VirusType2.. You play(ed) WoW?
My perception of you has been forever changed.
Am I the only **** here who hasn't played that accursed MMO?

I really wanted to like Gothic 3 but it was a buggy mess

Quoted because tis true..
Yeah, I should add a little more detail. What Bob mentions here is true and this is the thing that makes the combat NOT like Demon's Souls. Here you CAN just spam your attacks and win most battles. Maybe they can add a little more feedback to hits and blocks, but it's kind of late in the game. The hitting and roll dodging around enemies is what made me think of DS. My suggestion is play the demo all the way through first and see how battle is against the more interesting enemies toward the end of the demo. It was much more fun at that point. The weight behind the combat WOULD be interesting if it wasnt for the fact that its blind button mashing and that there is almost no feedback when you hit something.
A few players of previous Gothic games have a lot of gripes though, esp about the lack of an open world, bad voice-acting, lack of character classes and magic spells, weak dialogue, weak quests, etc. The forums of the official site have a good thread on it somewhere.

lack of an open world
Hahaha! Yeah, I was trying not to be too alarmist, but yeah, most of them hate it. At least I have the advantage of having not played the previous ones so I have nothing to compare them to. The lack of an open world makes me worry though. I won't get it if it doesn't open up once you get off the island (assuming the demo is the first part of the game)."A few" previous gothic players having gripes? All previous Gothic players ought to have problems with this.
****ing bullshit.
#I think I'll wait for the Two Worlds demo.
^I never played the first, I heard it was kinda like Gothic in that enemy and wildlife never respawned, is that true?
If so, don't you end up with a really empty world?
Who needs the demo? It is already preordered
From the previews that some in the gaming press have seen it certainly sounds like they are making sure that this one is not total crap like the first one. They openly acknowledge how bad it was and I think that's a big step for devs. I am actually pretty confident in how much better it will be than the first. I know, a pile of jelly could be more fun than the first, but still.Heh, true. It looks like it is shaping up to be good, but I'd rather try the demo, or read a few in-depth reviews first. Since I've heard from multiple sources the first one was garbage.
