Are we still supposed to get a stutter patch?

Been away for a while but don't see any patch threads. Many thought that the tiny update wasn't a patch. What's the word?

The tiny update was a patch (please no more arguments about this) - although it didn't appear to help some, especially Nvidia users. I'd advise you to browse through the rather large new stutter issue thread!

F**k knows! We're waiting on Valve but they aren't saying anything. The problem is obviously far from fixed. Who know's what will happen. I've given up & returned my copy to Amazon. I'll buy it again once the damn thing is sorted out. Following progress on this matter (for the most eagerly awaited game ever) had become an obsession for me & it was doing my head in. Now I'm rid of it I feel liberated from the whole HL2 fiasco ................................... So what the F**K AM I DOING BACK ON HERE!!!! :dozey:

"We are still investigating another performance problem on some hardware, which will manifest where the game is getting into a state where performance drops to less than 5 fps and does not recover or crashes"

They still are working on it.

Thanks. It'd be nice if fricking Valve made the info a little more readily accessible.

for some people turning the patch 'off' fixed some of the problems from before/that were created.

it's mat_d... something ...

What i don't understand is that the patch was disabled on nvidia cards yet my degrade in performance is very noticable, CS is a stuttering mess now as before it was solid. With HL2 there isn't any change at all except for the autosave fix (ha! Fix! I fixed that one my self by making the save files read only)
I am really close to breaking point, i need a patch soon or else im just going to play the game in the state it is in. I really hope i don't have to but i will be playing HL2 this weekend patched or not patched. Valve please deliver!

I don't think they're being forthcomimg with the memory requirments. It seems like most people that are complaining have 512 megs.. people with a gig seem to be happy. I have 512 and some areas it thrashes the hd like crazy and load times are long. Evenever this happens in a game it's a sign to me that I need to go buy more memory. Doom 3 never did that but half life 2 is much more feature rich. Guess it's time to plug in another dimm.

yeah I have a gig and havent been able to play but for 3hrs.Im simply going to wait for a patch.
