im not a nerd , but its hard to tell when somebody is. I think its more on how somebody looks and talks i think. For example myself: im joining the Dutch Army ( Infantry ) in November, but i love gaming and i like to know many stuff about computers. The thing is, in many situations its not up to the person itself to decide whether he is a nerd or not. I mean you can say to yourself im not a nerd while you actually can be the biggest nerd there is. Oh yeah im into weapons also, thats why my big interest in first person shooter games. And maybe because of all that gaming i started to like action and weapons. Hmm maybe i am a nerd... haha

No, people don't refer to me as "the nerd". Lots of people around me like games and computers, plus when you fix people's computers they love you.

There's a simple way to not be an outcast, and that's to talk about stuff everyone likes.

Besides, I call myself a technophile, not a geek or nerd. And society is slowly accepting computer-savvy as real people, chicks dig geeks (at least every girl I've talked to does, one is in college).

True story of my extreme nerdiness.

I got a call at 9:40am this wednesday about a job interview. I had gone to sleep at 6 am , so I had a good 3 hours.
The job was Unix backup operator at a cellphone company, but they needed to test my knowledge about unix before they could give me an interview.

So she she goes ahead and asks "what does "ls -f" do" and I, with my full 2 minutes of reentering the living world and having last touched linux last year, answer "displays an unsorted directory inventory".

So i guess one thing you can wake me up for in the middle of the night is linux.
