I personally haven't given another thought to buying a playstation 3 after they slapped it with an outrageous pricetag. What about you?

I can consider it all I want, but I'm not going to be able to afford it. :D

Well, if Assassin Creed ends up being a PS3 exclusive (which is still under some dispute) I think I may have to pick one up.

I'll be getting it for that and MGS4.

EDIT: Also blu-ray could be nice, I've got a new HDTV that is just begging for some HD movies.

No.

And DarkStar, I think buying a console for one game is a bit of a bad investment.

Yeah, $500 is pretty cheap when you factor in that the 360 costs $400 anyway and you don't get a Blu-Ray player and have to pay a fee to play online games. I'll still probably wait until the price drops though, and I want to see how much they charge for games.

Note: The reason I compared the low end PS3 to the high end X-BOX is because the low end PS3 has all the features of the $400 360 and more, so it's more of a fair comparision. Besides, the $600 PS3 seems like a bad deal, you can certainly get a bigger HD cheaper than $100 and HDMI doesn't seem that important to me.

I might get a Wii too after I get a chance to try it out. It seems like a great multiplayer console.

Nah, I won't be getting one.

I don't have an HDTV.
I don't want to spend $400+ on a console.
Of the games only available on the PS3, few interest me.

Considering. Doubt it. Wii has really impressed me this round.

Actually, Sony never mentions multi-player as being part of their free service. It was omitted from their list of on-line service features. So, if they do charge to play on-line multi-player, then it would be just like Xbox Live - it's free for the basic service of downloading demos, 'Xbox Live Arcade' games, and episodic/patch content, but you have to pay if you want to play on-line multi-player.

One can only wait and see what Sony does at this point. I would bet money that they end up charging for the multi-player service. They are experts at misleading people.

As for the Topic. Never. Never going to buy one no matter what.

whats if that game is the one you are most anticipating and waiting?

I might buy an xbox 360 for gears of war, halo 3, and dead rising. But the price tag allows me to get both an xbox and a wii.

Even if HL4 was only available on the PS3, I wouldn't buy a PS3 just for that.

It's not just for one game.

I know a that a year, maybe 2 out from launch, there will be at least 6 games for the PS3 that will be must-buys for me.

That and blu-ray which IMO is the front-runner to win next gen DVD.

How can someone be undecided about considering buying the PS3?

Rick: I don't know if I want to think about buying the PS3 or not.
Joey "The Man": What?
Rick: I'm undecided if I want to consider buying the PS3 or not.
Joey "The Man": Fuck you.

Here's my dilemma.
I have PS2 games but no PS2.

Up until this point I have been waiting for the PS3 because I knew it would be backwards compatible and I thought getting a crusty old PS2 would be pointless.

Right now, PS3 is not an appealing console for any reason. Astronomical price tag, Sony being asshats recently, no PS3 launch titles really grapping my interest.
I don't want to wait for a $200 price drop to play Star Ocean 3. :|

No. Wii ftw. I plan to buy a pc at the end of the year so I don't want to spend all my saved money on a ps3. I don't want the thing anyway, mainly because it's from sony cuz they screwed up alot lately.

I'd sell you mine - cheap, but you live in freakin Alaska.
For the price of shipping I could buy a brand new one. :/

Everything is like that.

It costs $800 to ship a damn 19lb fiberglass hood. :\

Yeah im going to buy one but probably a while after they are out. Its mostly because the games apeal to me more so then the other systems & the controller.

Yah I know

When it came to getting a new hood, I got lucky. A friend of mine had the same car as me, and was selling it. So, she sold me her Vis carbon-fiber hood. She had never bothered to install it, and sold it to me for dirt cheap, and even drove it to my house. (No shipping) It's really light, and looks awesome.

Perhaps in two and a half years time, when the price has dropped, they've released a much smaller version of the original system, and it's bundled with about five games then maybe.

Not really being a Playstation gamer, the back-catalogue of PS2 games would be worth it if the console was < £200.

Definitely, but not until after a price drop or two. My Wii should keep me satisfied until then...:D

No,
PS3 = the price of two upcoming DX10 graphics card.

No, rather spend the money on updating my computer than waste it on a console.

Yes.
MGS4 + Winning Eleven + DMC = worth getting PS3

I wont be getting one for a long time. I see no interesting games and the price of the thing is just waaay too high. Also, the games will prolly be more expensive than for the Xbox360. The price for a 360 game is already very hight (81 bucks converted from Swedemoney).

The Wii is the only interesting console at this moment. Its new, its cheap (both console and games) and not to mention the Virtual Console and the supposed indy friendliness of the system. Count me in on that!

Do what I did - bag yourself a Slimline PS2 for cheap off eBay. It won't break the bank, and it's so small you'll hardly notice it under the telly.

Then you can entertain yourself with the finest entries in the PS2 back-catalogue... until some time in the future, when the PS3 is offering comparative amounts of entertainment at a remotely reasonable price...

It has MGS4, and BluRay.... so yes, hell yes!

My friend just got a projector for my room at college that outputs up to 1080p and I can't wait to see it in action.

No, I'm actually buying an xbox360 instead. But I might just get a PS3 1-2 years after MGS4 is released, by that time the price should have dropped alil =)

I'm considering a PS3, but probably won't get one for a while.

Winning Eleven would have clinched it if it wasn't coming out for the 360 - which, with Live, should be better online.

There is MGS, but that isn't enough to make me part with my cash alone.

Hell no, too expensive, apparently hard to program for and by the time it comes out computers will have completly kicked it's ass in terms of hardware.

If, and it is a pretty big if, the games are great, sure, I'll consider it.

.bog.

If Sony pays ME $600 I might consider it.

P.S. For those of you who keep saying they will buy the PS3 for MGS4, have you forgotten Kojima's love for making new versions of his games a year later.

Or that each game in the series has slowly gotten worse with each iteration ;)
