Are you regreting that you didnt pre-order?

Never pre-order where they mail it to you.
You'll end up getting it days after it hits the stores.

I'll goto the local EB at lunch the day it comes out.

Actually you are wrong, I preordered bf1942 and got my copy the same day it came out in stores. It ships out the same time it gets shipped to stores like eb. Preorder just saves me a trip to the mall, and I like having it waiting for me when I get home from work.

If people had sense and pre-oerderd from gameplay, no probs. I'm not threating over any problems of receiving my copy.

I placed my order with gameplay.co.uk and no, I don't regret it: great price plus CT comes over the forums to inform people of any changes.

And you don't pay anything in advance, if you're stupid enough as to not read contracts well then you shouldn't have a credit card in the first place.

What I've been doing, is calling up the EB near me, and confirming when they're getting the game. Goto the store, pre-order it.. put like...$10 down or whatever (how much I put down takes that off the price when I pick it up). Wait... Then 2 days before release, I call them up and ask when they expect to get it in.. and lately, they've been getting games at least 1-2 days early and if you preordered you can go pick it up then. That's my plan now, just a bit different. I'm by a gamestop now, so I'll just do it there.

GTA:VC example: I got it 2 days before release, and my friends couldn't find a copy anywhere for at least 3-4 days after release.

For those of you that can just walk in, you're lucky...

yea most places ship so that you'll receive your game the day it comes out in stores. and that's without overnight or 2-day shipping. a lot of places will ship everything on their "shipping day" and if you overnight it you sometimes get games a day early.

i had a bunch of friends preorder bf1942 and other games and receive them before the release day because they paid $5 for overnight shipping :p

I've pre-ordered games and have gotten them usually 1 - 2 days before its actual release date. Im pretty optomistic that HL 2 will make it's 9/30 release date. It doesnt' matter what shops like EBX and Gamestop say, if their dates are 11/19 or 4/2/04, if the game ships 9/30, IT WILL BE THEIR 9/30 give or take a few days - regardless of what the dates in their PC say.

Not at my local shop. They're pretty anal about "street dates" (the official date when retailers can start selling a product). Even when they have the game in stock, they won't actually fulfill preorders until the official release day.

No, there will be plenty lying around stores like Bestbuy. I'll just walk in and buy a copy.

i plan to on sept 30th morning, drive to my local circuit city, pick the game up off the shelf, drop the cash at counter, put that beutifal box that reads Half-Life² in a plastic circuit city bag, drive home, wait for her to install, play the SP, then when ive completed SP ill look for some good HL² mods, download, and play MP.

I think I'll skip school that day.

I only go for 4 hours anyway....but its still to long to wait.

deathryu i plan on doing the same thing as u, i got a gift card for cirucuit city, so i need to use it, what better to use it then for hl 2
