Just bought it a few days ago, beaten it twice for the Corp and ORCA endings.

in my third playthrough.

Armoured Core, ahhhh... I remember that on the PS1.

Yeah the PS1 version was awesome. The story mode was balls... the ladder and versus mode were what made the game. I remember having to use some lame tactics to get to the top of the ladder though... like using that machine gun that had almost a point-blank range but would kill anything in a few seconds.

Oh, you know, just as an aside, you know where my Darkside name originally came from? Armored Core 1, my pilot name was Ace Darkside. Just thought you might find that kinda funny.

I love mecha games, but the reviews for this one really put me off. How does it compare to the earlier entries in the series?

Hmm...nope!

In fact if it wasn't for goddamned Arteria Carpals I'd probably still be playing it. 4A is seriously amazing; fighting the giant mobile platforms especially.

It's great, although normal mode is insanely easy now, once you learn some of the tricks.

KOJIMA ARGYROS ARMS AND KOJIMA CANNONS

I can beat Motherwill and pretty much all the arms forts in minutes, or in Stigro's case, the first five seconds of the match with Large Rockets.

I think AC4 is on PC, IIRC.
