Thats cool, I've met some smart people that let the moment catch up with them.

Security can be cool depending on the location, thiers some really cool toys out there ;)

If you really want some action look at being a PJ or a combat controller :

Nothing beats Jumping into enemy territory, setting up air traffic control, and avoiding enemy patrols
Wow I don't remember seeing that last time at all when I went through. I remember band and chaplain and such on specialty, but that was months ago. This is a potential choice too for me now.

Last time I went through the careers and jobs at airforce.com and military.com it was enlisted who did this sort of stuff, this looks great :]. I'll look into it.

why dont you take a minute and reread my post. it will save you from looking like an ass oh too late.

Theres a lot of soldiers out thier that come out of jrotc and rotc programs and expect that they will be given the spots that thier recuirters told them could get. Do you really know if he knows that or not? I've met people that have had 8 years of JROTC and ROTC in the Army and Airforce that were promised the world and ended up getting the shaft. because the recuiters are just that! So if he wants to be a SF hes got to have more that just ROTC.

IF YOU WANT TO FLY you better have a 4.0 and have extracurricular activities, even Airmen coming out of the academy have to fight for positions. postions that have a back log of airmen that are already in the service. and For the record Places like Texas A&M, University of North Texas, Texas Tech, UT, and the acadamy are all considered on the same level when determining who get the chance to fly. Becase its not really the school but what you did in school.

I'll quote myself for you so you can understand it "if you want to do anything with Space go Air Force as that is considered thier theater of operations" No where does that say thats thier only theater!
Why don't you take a minute to read my post. It will save you from looking like an ass oh too late. My point was that I'm pretty shure that Rakuri's not gonna end up as a member of Delta Force. Also, about the 4.0 GPA, yes, there is some competition between graduates when it comes to picking careers, but it's not nearly as intense as you make it out to be. My dad graduated from the Naval Academy in 82 (I'm not saying this is exactly the same, but I assume it's pretty close) and from what I've heard, if you're in the top half of your class, you're pretty much guaranteed anything you want. There's more competiton between post-training deployment options (where you're based). For instance, positions at the base in Monterey CA, or at Pearl Harbor are going to be taken faster that positions in places like Maine. Finally, when you said "If you want to do anything with Space go Air Force as that is considered their theater of operations." you made it seem like you were saying it was their only theatre of operations.

82 was pre top gun (and iron eagles [eek]) there has been a big change since then there been very little atributed loss to combat, plus roll over from fighter pilot to commercial pilot isnt as typical as those pilots have very little attributed lose(and US commercial avation is shrinking), plus the AF has raised its commitment time for pilots to 7 years+. Whats creating new positions now is retirement and age forcing roll over. What may shrink the numbers even more is the proposed base realignments that may create many Joint bases (Like Carswell), and remove individual and redundant bases as our days of cold war bases have proven to be economic burden on the us economy. Now ih terms of the Navy pilots they do have a little higher turnover due to carrier deployment.

The days of what your talking about are gone.

Marines are not super soldiers, but if I was in the middle of a crowd of 5 thousand angry iraqis, I'd choose a squad of 10 marines opposed to 100 army grunts to get me the hell outa there :)

Marines know their shit and each other like the back of their hand. Airforce is all tech stuff. Navy is all aircraft. Army is all about grunt work.

Meh..whatever. I'm done arguing the point.

Rakurai: If it was me, I'd go Air Force over Army, but it's your decision. Do what you think is right for you. :)
