Army's 1st Uniform Redesign Since '81

camouflage is not really about blending into the colour of the background. The best type camouflage actually hides the shape and outline of an object, vehicle or person.

what is pictured is the woodland sheme, not the desert sheme to avoid confusion. The new uniform should allow for much greater manuverability in uniform (much more breathing room!) and greater protection because of compatability with the usmc interceptor armor
 
yeah i read the article. the mechanics of it shouldn't be a problem, no doubt they've spent millions and a few years developing this and it'll probably do it's job as expected. just looked a little bright to be camo.
 
well the "glow" or bright effect you see could just be the lighting
 
I hate velcro. It gives me a headache when I tear it open. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard. And the new uniform looks stupid.

:| I don't like it, I dunno maybe i'm a fashion freak!?!? They need to make a stealth suit like Solid Snakes and then add some special type of membrane to it which enables it to change colors to fit the background.

You shouldn't be worried about the laughing when that suit saves your life. :)
 
It's good to be camouflaged with the sky. The enemy can't see you when you parachute out. Wait....but then you'll be easily spotted on the ground...hmmm..

There you go people, that's where our tax dollars are going towards. :)
 
the marines have been using that type of uniform (the 'digitized' style) for a long time
 
And, amazingly, so far there have been no complaints heard back from troops in combat!

Well, the real test is not how dumb you look, but how hard it is to see you. I would gladly wear something that looked a little dumb to accomodate for the saving of my butt. But if you see the same styles up close and not in crappily lighted pictures, they dont look bad, its the same style as the Marine uniforms just a diffrent color scheme. I think they will work out nicely.

(and the berets do look really stupid, everyone hates them in the military. that was just a stupid move. it was to make the Army look like the rest of the world. jeez i hate them, lucky trainee bastards, they still get to wear the regular hats) as slicktick continues rant....
 
Even the green berets hate then, they are useless and just get in the way.
