Just like to share a horrific experience I just had. I've been playing with my PC, tweaking etc ready for HL2 and it has been a while since I tweaked the memory settings in the bios. So, like a smart-arse, I thought I would set the memory game settings on 'F1' setting in bios. Computer gave an error bleep and wouldn't boot up! Bios checksum error! I thought I'd blown my memory sticks! Balancing on one leg (as the other is in plaster) I struggled disconnecting the cables and took the damn thing down from the table. Sweating like a tw*t, I shorted the CMOS pins out to reset the bios, all the while praying to a God that I didn't believe in! Anyway, the f***ing thing's okay now. Nearly had a f***ing heart attack!

LMAO - ****ing hell!!!! bet you wont be going back into the BIOS for a hurry lololol

congrats on unscrewing your machine lol

whats the big deal, you just had to reset your bios. it happens all the time with people.

The big deal is:
1) It's the day before Half Life 2
2) The error could have been indicative of blown memory , hence rendering me unable to play Half Life 2.
3) I nearly fell down the stairs (leg in plaster ruptured Achilles)

THAT'S why I hate computers but otherwise you got to love them.
Gah...I don't even dare to install new drivers T_T I have too short fuse

There is zero chance of blowing your ram by changing the timings. It'll either run at the settings or it wont.
