Basically i was owndering how many pages/ hours of work have gone into your sketchbooks, for gcse like your 2 that you are hading in and At AS how many for the 2 modules,

i would also liek to know how much in the way of exam prep everyone has done!

i have about 25 hours of work in my book, tho thats cos i spent 30 hours attacking a final study for one of my modules 9 i Do AS by the way)

and in my other 2 modules i got 97 pages in one and 67+ in the other one, one book is properly good, but the other i Despise with all my soul i went downth e wrong route and im bored with it...

i know quite a few people do art around here Share Your likes n dislikes with what you are doing and THe like!!! go for it

:dozey:

Heh, for my GCSE's I downloaded a couple of pictures off the internet, and re-drew them in my exam...
I got a C.

For A level, I downloaded a couple of pictures off the internet and re drew them.
I got and E.

For my foundation course, I've burnt stuff.
Hopefully I'l get a distinction...

The moral of the story is. When all else fails, resort to fire and burn them all the ashes :flame:

Edit: Actually for my GCSE, I think I did some good work in the coursework. At least people said I did. I just didn't do a lot of it...

heh, I miss school sometimes. But then, if I were there, I wouldn't be here :O

In my GCSE for the exam I did war through the ages. Coursework I did perspective, lord of the rings, and this thing with angels and stuff. Most people said that was the most itneresting one because of the topic. The perspective work was good simply because of the skill and the lord of the rings was kinda meh, but had some well drawn pictures.

A level, I did some good tonal work and thats about it.

I took art GCSE - did a shitload of kenetics and pop art - got an A

Was all done at the last minute though :)

WISH I'd taken Art A level

****ing regrets.

hell i cant even draw a stick man properly dont talk to me about GCSE art ^.^

Grades don't mean s*** when it comes to art. As long as you scrape a pass most art schools will give you an interview, from then on all that matters is how good your portfolio is. I don't know what school you go to, but of all the people that got an A in my class (a few went to London college of art), they had nowhere near 97 pages of work.

Anyway, I totally changed my choice of profession from basic art to illustration + graphic design. Next year we have to get some industry experience which should be pretty cool.

most design/art related courses at university require atleast a C at A level.

i got a B for A level art and design, and was able to get onto a BA honors course for Design which im currently doing. If your trying to land a job grades become very important at higher levels. Only when youve got great contacts , and your a god at art and design with a mass of quality portfolio work.. then perhaps its possible to get 'lucky', but think of it this way.. a proficient and talented artist/designer trying to land a job with no high grade qualifcations may be considered.. but if your a proficient and talented artist/designer with a BA honors degree or masters trying to land the same job.. guess who gets it.

well my art teacher is obsessed with progession, if i were to do say 35 pages of work and it was random doodles i would get killed. its gotta be like exploring diff angles and getting somewhere towards a final piece
but hey i ahve a 3 weeks to do one final study a 40 page report in computing and physics coursework + revision

anyone wanna teach me physics :)

Guess what? my final GCSE art exam is... tomorrow. And I haven't done enough work... but I can garantee you I'll have it finished tonight!

Basically, for my prep work, I've done three double-pages for researching artists, four double pages on direct observation (taking photos and annotating them etc), lots of experimenting with different mediums and comparing my work to artists; and now I have to finish that section and complete a preliminary painting of my final piece. yay.

good luck:P
u do know you can work on your sketchbook after the exam yes??

I've done my final exam :( I think it went alright, perhaps

I worked out that the actual final exam is only 12.5% of your total grade... so you could do a black blob for your final piece, and as long as your prep work was good you could still get an A. I'm glad about this, because my final piece is a blur of angry colours, refined with fine inks... either it will look like A) An intriguing, complex picture full of anger, hatred and movement or B) Random smears that just look like a large pile of red poo.

:(

i got 3 weeks till my final AS exam :)

only exam i feeling comfortable with aswell :P

except maybe General studies cos that is rather limp :P

Just did the first half of my exam at school. I was orginally going to draw a female assasain slicing up someone in an urban tunnel, but I got a lot of inspiration from Meryl from MGS and... I ended up copying her lol :) Then I thought, "hey, why not go all the way and have russian guards?". So now my final art piece looks more like MGS fanart... ah well.

I know I'm gonna balls up my exam. in the mock I spent 5 hours drawing out this scene, then completely buggered up the painting. In the end I spent like 2 hours on some crummy sketch :(

Ah well, hope all goes well Suicide :P

Thanks guys / gals :D

I'm trying something rather interesting... which is to go over my acrylic painting in scratchy drawing inks to add detail and emphasise movement. It should look good... but then again I have no idea. I tested it out a few times, and it looked rather stylish there but... well, we'll wait and see.

:p got 2 weeks till myfinal exam i discovered :P im kinda scarded now as one mock up on A3 has take 3 and a half hours and it half way done, and my final needs to be least A2 :o
