As weird as it sounds... Extracting teeth is kinda fun.....

I know it sounds weird. Especially since the oral hygiene of extraction pt's can sometimes be pretty bad. Some times teeth are a real bitch to get out. You have to elevate them to loosen them and work them slowly back and forth with the forceps to expand the bone. When they come out though it's like you won a prize or something. I guess the relief that it came out. Sounds kinda weird I know. I don't know how to explain it. I'm not to fond of digging for root tips and sometimes having to cut away bone to get at them. Sometimes that's inevitable though.

Does it make me demented to enjoy this process? I know patients don't enjoy it and I do sympathize with that, but it's still kind of fun for "work".
 
I would of thought you enjoyed shooting them out instead.

It's not over yet. It could turn around still.

Dentistry is not something people will go without in the US. Even if the economy tanks dentists should still do ok unless they are running a huge state of the art practice which usually entails a huge debt to profit ratio. I'm not saying it would thrive.
 
Idunno, people can lose their health care, and usually dental is the first thing to go. I know I dont have it anymore.
 
One other thing. If the government does do a bailout it will most certainly create lots of inflation which can actually help someone like me. Student loan averages for dental and medical students is outrageous. Well into the six figure range. Inflation will make it less significant. I'm not hoping for that to happen I'm just making that observation.

I could work for Indian Health Services, the military, or many other government ran programs that are very very unlikely togo away if need be. I wouldn't really want to though.

Sometimes it won't let me edit stuff. It says I need to add more characters. I then add more but it still l says that I need to add more and won't work so I just post again. What the hell else can you do in that scenario? I know I have double posted without this being the cause but it has been the cause before.
 
Thats because you cant edit the message to have less than six letters or something. Knob.

Sometimes it tells me I have to add a minimum amount of characters so I add whatever it says and then it repeats the same message. It's random when it happens I think but I'm not really sure. Maybe it is when I am at school. I will have to try it when I can and I am at the Union or something to see if that affects anything.

Ok I have to hit the sack it's getting late here.
 
I've never extracted any teeth, but I really wish I could lose teeth again. I loved that.
 
When I got my wisdom teeth removed the surgeon did a terrorist-fist-jab with the semi-cute female assistant every time they got a tooth fully removed. No joke. And he kept cracking jokes pretending to learn the slang of rapper guys and his "crazy kids."

He was a jock of teeth yanking. Goddamn scalpel jocks. And to the OP, I can totally understand that it would be fun... hell I'm kind of a sadomasochist and I had fun getting my teeth yanked. But I suppose laughing gas has that effect on people.

Too true. I did laughing gas recreationally last week and I was ****ing begging people to take my teeth out.

Oh god yes, and it feels so good to have them forcibly removed. Best drug ever. THE LUSCIOUS GUM PAIN. The fragments of sharp tooth lodged deep in a mushy mess full of delicate nerves and ripped up gum tissue. I can hardly contain myself!

i'm need 3 to take out in the next weeks. i'm scared...and if you're a really unlucky bastard then the procedure might damage your jaw or tongue nerve in this case you're screwed.
 
i had 3 taken out and the next day 3 more, then a couple years later I got my wisdom teeth out. Sucked.
 
Fun? You guys are nuts. A few weeks ago I had a tooth removed because of a massive infection, so yeah it's a lot of fun having a gaping whole in the side of your mouth...


Also you sadomasochists would probably "enjoy" the way they do extractions here. What laughing gas, it's an enormous anesthetic syringe for you!!

At the school we rarely use nitrous oxide except in pedo clinic, but in private practice it is usually used generously. It really doesn't relieve pain just anxiety.
