As weird as it sounds... Extracting teeth is kinda fun.....

what happens if you combine nitrous oxide with laughing gas

ah, I love that episode.

Oh crap, you know what I just realized? The guy that does the creeper's voice is Kyle Katarn :O

Really? That's fsking awesome.

I know it sounds weird. Especially since the oral hygiene of extraction pt's can sometimes be pretty bad. Some times teeth are a real bitch to get out. You have to elevate them to loosen them and work them slowly back and forth with the forceps to expand the bone. When they come out though it's like you won a prize or something. I guess the relief that it came out. Sounds kinda weird I know. I don't know how to explain it. I'm not to fond of digging for root tips and sometimes having to cut away bone to get at them. Sometimes that's inevitable though.

Does it make me demented to enjoy this process? I know patients don't enjoy it and I do sympathize with that, but it's still kind of fun for "work".

OMG shut up you bastard!.

*Has a panic attack*

I've never extracted any teeth, but I really wish I could lose teeth again. I loved that.

I'll say, I mean, how the **** can humanity have the stupidity to evolve with such a pathetic mouth?. Sharks go through so many teeth its nuts, other animals teeth keep growing through life, but can we replace ****ed up teeth?, like **** we can!.

And to make it worse, do we have other mechanisms to deal with ****ed up teeth?, like simply dropping out?, nooooooooooope, they fester and rot and before you know it if you don't have dental care your going to suffer immeasurable pain and misery before dying.

I'm tempted to become a mad geneticist just so I can figure out how to ensure future generations of humans don't have to live with such a massively unforgivable evolutionary flaw, but until then were all at the mercy of people who enjoy the act of torturing and cutting and smashing and bleeding out another persons face.

*whimper*

:P

I would never recomend you to anoyne

I just had my teef smoothed out today after having my braces taken off, and let me tell you it was one of the most horrible things I've ever felt. My teef are already sensitive and having that done was like slowly cutting my penis in half.

However, my teef are quite better, and I have a secksy ****ing smile now.

you need to work on your bedside manner ..try to go for less josef mengele and more florence nightingale

How would you know what my bedside manner is? Comparing me to a Nazi is kind of extreme.

I said the extraction process is fun. I really don't like to cause people pain. That can actually make me somewhat anxious if someone is clearly in pain and I really try to minimize a pt's discomfort as much as I can, but some pain is inevitable for some procedures. I was actually complimented today on my injections. The slower you inject the less it stings. If you use topical for long enough and inject slow enough you truly can do pain free injections except on the palate. I extracted a maxillary first molar today (a 3 rooted tooth) and I was sure that it was going to fracture because of the extent and location of the decay. I took my time and worked on it slowly and it eventually came out all in one piece with a friggen big ass palatal root. He was very happy and thanked me many times for getting it out in one piece as he has had more difficult experiences in the past. A lot of my patients ask me where I plan to practice so they can come to me when I am out.

If you are referring to my comment about assisting a Perio resident with a surgery the other day that was an exception. The lady we were working on actually works at the school so she knew both of us. Somehow the subject of guns came up. Actually I think another class mate was in there and asked me something related to guns or hunting, but I can't remember exactly. The pt in that case just seemed surprised or disturbed by the subject but was never upset.
