Hi guys! :D Do you think I should ask Gabe for a quick interview on IRC or via email? :D If I get good responses, I will see if I can ask some questions from you guys. :D Should I send Gabe an email asking for a quick interview. :D

Go ahead. I wouldn't be surprised if he declines or doesn't reply, though. He's probably really busy.

It would be just a quick one. I would get straight to the point with questions.

Wheres the "Badger Badger until he sends his in" ?????

We'll see. :D I didn't know they did tours until Spit went. So, you might be surprised!

how about the community create some questions and we vote whats the best and then send um off.. i think we should ask him if hes up for it first

As long as you don't ask him stupid questions he might just reply.

That's what I was going to do... :p

OK, I have a question for Gabe: when is Half-life 2 gonna come out?

;)

I really dont see the point in doing a interview right now, what are you going to ask them? We got several interviews plus the valve thread... isnt much left to ask.

hehe wow what an origanal question... wonder why no one has thought of it before

I am going to ask that at the ened of the interview. And the questions I will ask are going to be from the community. There will be 20 questions.

I agree. Unless you're going to ask him really tough questions(that he'd probably decline to answer anyway) it's not really necessary. I'd ask him:

1) When is the projected release date for HL2?

2) Is the source code theft the reason for the delay?

3) Is Steam the reason for the delay?

4) When is TF2 coming out? Is it the multiplayer component to HL2?

5) What is Valve's definition of 'soon'.

so many of these questions already have ansers, ones like when is it gunna be released? we know they wont be anserd. also i think so many questions have been asked about sourse already, we will probly be asking the same questions again. but its worth a try, mayb sonmeone will think of some questions no one elce have though of....

how about
there are loads of antispated games nearing compleation, ie doom 3, ut2004 STALKER, far cry. What next gen game are looking forward to the most and which will be your biggest compeiter

Mr. Newell,
On behalf of halflife2.net, I am requesting permission to do a quick, twenty question interview with you. It is your choice of the time and date (not too soon, I have to compile the questions), and of either email or IRC.

Thanks,
Ray "ray_MAN"

That is the email I am sending Gabe. Tell me how it is, and if I should make changes.

Maybe more like

Dear Gabe,
I am writing on behalf of the Half-Life2.net community to ask whether it would be possible to do a small interview, by e-mail. If so then please may I have time to compile the questions and mail them to you.

Thanks,
The HL2.net community

?

That it is. Thanks for the reply. It goes to Gabe...now!

IF you can make this happen, I have a suggestion for a couple' a questions, but I'm not sure if anyone else would care. I sent this to Gabe around 9/26, and understandably never got an answer. (I posted it in the planned interview thread also, what's up with that? did it completely fizzle out, mr.B?)

It is these:

Will there be built in support or a patch to support tactile feedback on the Logitech iFeel mouse? Has anyone at VALVe been in contact with Immersion (makers of the feedback interface)?

Did you do any testing with 3D shutter glasses? If so, what kind(s) of setups?

It's something I'd like to see answered/addressed, and haven't seen it anywhere else...

Well just a wild guess here but if you sent these questions in and didnt geta answer my gut reaction tells me the answer would be NO to all of the above.

All I want to know is what exactly are they working on now, and can we have a new video? lol

i had a dream that a new hl2 video came out

it was called "monster"

it was so wierd like this giant ape would chase you around

ray_MAN, ask how the acquisition of the BitTorrent creator will change Steam.

Yes, the steam question is a good one.

Other than release date questions i can't really think of anything i want to know.

It's just at that point where virtually everything that can be said about the game (without revealing too much) has been said. I say we just wait it out for the next 4-6 months....with silence. Oh joy! :|

In the meantime, could all Half-Life 2 community web sites shut down until it's released? I have no will power and can't stop visiting this site everyday.

Probably, but it was right after the delay announcement, and I think their mail servers were still unknowingly being hacked at the time. I should probably just ask again directly...

So long as you go as the official "HALFLIFE2.NET representative wanting an official site update interview", he may want to take the time to feed the foaming-at-the-mouth HL community.

You would ahve to make sure that, if he is up for it, you collect a good list of questions from the whole community.

im wondering for some time..
in HL when you jumped forward and then pressed backwards in midair, you stopped your movement. is this going to happen in HL2?

btw ive seen some emails in the valve info thread that you guys sent. some of you headed them for Gabe and got answer from someone else.
if it doesnt matter whos in vavle answering the questions i dont see the reason to put a certain name at top.
anyway its just my opinion

Heh, no reply. He never replied to any of my emails. Ever. I will try sending it again when the VALVe office opens. After all, he could have left at 5:00....

Alittle off topic but....
Has anyone noticed how games like UT2004 and Painkiller are implementing physics and pretty good graphics which will soon become the norm for FPS's? I think that HL2's story and immersion are what's going to set it apart from the rest. Thus, it's physics and graphics will be par with other next generation games.

i have a question

were the character designs based on real people, if so can we see pics of um!

i wanna see the real Gman :D

instead of asking him to do a interview just email him the questions
o yea and
/me thinks its a bad idea spamming gabe with pointless questions :E

He is most likely not going to answer any release date questions. I don't see any point in any more interviews.
