Why can't gordon punch or kick?
I mean.. c'mon is he that much of a wuss that he can't even punch!?!

Why would Gordon need to punch or kick when he has his trusty crowbar? :P

nahh..its not kung-fu theater..nor is it breakdown on the xbox..if you want "punch" in HL2, close quarters shotgun blasts tend to work as well as the gravgun

Are you thick?
The crowbar is enough melee. Melee combat in FPSs is crap.

Even if Valve decided this was a good idea, when would you ever use it? Like Loke said, the crowbar's there for a reason.

But it would help in the part when the combine charges into the room in point insertion. You know, the part when Alyx comes in and save you.

I'd settle for a secret door allowing me to go back in there and give those unconcious CPs the what-for. Actually, A visit back to that apartment wouldnt't be so bad.

I already said stop asking dumbshit questions.

The owners of this site have to back up all this crap you know.

Alyx is supposed to save you.

I support bunting. Would save my ass if i didn't have to switch to the crowbar.

But it would render the crowbar useless...

nah, screw it - i don't support bunting. The Crowbar is the HOLY ICON!

When You Start the game it would be kick ass to punch and kick, EVERYONE HATES STUPID CIVILIANS and, just for fun, to beat up combines when you are acually playing the game.

And dont post in a thread if its nothing nice
"if you can't say nothin' nice dont say anything"

Not really.

Breakdown, Doom 3, and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay-just to name a few-all have exceptionally well done and fluid melee combat controls.

F.E.A.R. also seems to be one game that will do the same just as well, or even better.

Emm..if you realy want some meele-combat in FPS i would take chronicles of Riddick..becose it realy kicks ass!!

Agreed.

Crowbar > Chainsaw > knife > Fists

No gordon needs weapons to do his job, get sam fisher in there and he will omega punch anyone

Sometimes, yes. Although they do have melee attacks in Unreal Championship 2 for the XBox, which is actually a pretty fun game. They made it work out.

Damn Dog-- is an annoying newcomer.

I like Halo 2's melee. Although I'm not a huge fan of melee, the core of FPS games have always been guns!!

Thus the S, which stands for Shooter.

I wouln't mind it, in the middle of a firefight it is kind of a bitch to switch to the holy crowbar, but yeah, you being able to punch would make the crowbar redunant and as is says in the holy book: "the crowbar is the beginning; it is the end". Or something like it. In conclusion, punching and kicking is good gameplay, just not when a crowbar is around.

I'd like to be able to punch and kick in more fps. It'd also be neat to be able to shove, or throw/grapple people, and steal weapons out of their hands (ala Perfect Dark)

Being able to smack a guy in the chops, steal his weapon while he's realing from the blow, and then push him off the top of a building would be oh so satisfying :)

Imagine... the combine drops the can and tells you to pick it up *matrix music starts playing* You manage to kill the metrocop, and run outside, at the park you find that you are surrounded by the Metrocop. You start doing all these cool Kung Fo moves, and you find a loose bar, pull it out.... but it is to hard, so you take the spare bars beside it (Some people know what I am talking about, if they seen a matrix spoof, forget what it was called) Then you run towards the Hideout, using your cool moves, and a plain old bar, not a crow"bar".
Yeah.... that would kinda suck, be a good flash movie though
EDIT: I put Take it out *matrix* instead of pick it up *matrix*

i agree the makers of the kung fu mod for max payne should make one for half life 2. You have to admit, it was pretty fun kicking open doors in RTCW

This is a First Person Shooter, not a First Person Shooter/Boxer hybrid game!

If you want that sort of thing we just need to wait for FEAR, you can go kung fu on peoples asses.. and somehow they made it look cool, and not retarded.

I would like to be able to "crotch" someone to death in a game.
