Assassin's Creed 2 hinted at, revealed next week

Dude, I have yet to hear of a game other than Crysis that you actually like.

In any case, I wasnt dissapointed by the first one. Truly breathtaking the first time you fired it up, and the assassination missions were sublime. It's a shame about the repetitiveness of the combat and the side missions, but it was never enough to break the game for me.

Count me in on this one :D
What makes you think i like crysis so much? Did the projector give it away?

Honestly, if I cared that much about the game looking real I would just go the **** outside.

- You'll have a ton of new weapons to choose from including an axe, a hammer, a mace, a spear, 2 different sword types, a spear axe, and 2 smaller blades
- You CAN swim
- Da Vincis workshop is in the game
- Locations include Saint Marks Basilica, The Grand Canal, The Little Canal, and the Rialto bridge.
- The game opens in 1476, Altair is from 1191
- So you do indeed play as a new ancestor of Altair / Desmond
-You will see the countryside of Tuscany
- The "Auditore" family is mentioned
- The main characters name is Ezio Auditore de Firenze
- He is a nobleman of Florence
- Big characters are in the game including Machiavelli, Caterina Sofrza, and Lorenzo de Medici
- YOU DO INDEED GLIDE on Da Vincis flying machine.
- Game will feature a new notoriety system that governs how enemy soldiers and people will treat you.
- You can disarm enemies and use their own weapons against them this time.
- Each weapon has a special move.
- 16 unique mission types.
- No more eaves dropping or pick pocketing missions.
- If you get beat up to much you will need to see a street side doctor to regain full strength.
- Hidden objects (like flags in the first one) are there to uncover but this time if you track them down you will get in-game bonuses that make it worth your time.
- Items include, flags, statues, and gold coins and more that isnt mentioned.
- New enemy types with unique attitudes and weaknesses are present in the game. Archers are mentioned, as well as elite enemies, dagger wielders, "Brutish" armored troops with heavy armor and 2 handed swords and axes, and an intelligent halberd enemy will probe hiding places with their weapons if they think you're near by.
- While hiding in a hay bail you can assassinate people this time, but it may expose your position.
- You can still climb towers and ride horses
- The Lorendo de Medici assassination attempt is in the game.
- There is now a night and day sequence in the game.
- 240 people are working on this title.

BIG THANKS TO GAMESAREART for all the AC2 info!

240 people are working on this title.

Too many cooks spoil the broth?

Okay seriously that's the only nitpick I can make cos that list sounds really impressive.

EDIT:

Okay guys here's your new main character

assassins2.jpg

Main character looks pretty awesome.

I'm loving the Italian setting as Italy's history is probably my favourite of anywhere in the world.

I'm hoping that the Da Vinci wings are with you all the time and become part of your costume when you unlock them. I'd like to do an Eagle Jump thing from a tower, open my wings and swoop around a bit, and land right behind the guy I have to kill. In other words, I want to be the Italian medieval Batman. You can't say fairer than that, right?

So... two times the wrist blade, two times the awesome? How is it practical to have two?

Also, hey Alan I hadn't seen your projector before in the Hardware section. Can you post it once again on every page of every thread containing the strings HL2 and Crysis, so I don't forget?

the original was a video game about a guy who could essentially walk on any surface and was experiencing the world through what is basically a timewarp device -- I think you can deal with 2x teh wrist bladezz

Wait, what? Thats bioshock 2...
edit: nvm my bad, anything with da vinci in it is destined to be ****in awesome

Apparently u didn't watch the vid.
I'm looking forward to this, 16 different mission types sounds awesome.

- If you get beat up to much you will need to see a street side doctor to regain full strength.
But wasn't the "health" system of the first game about you falling out of sync with your ancestors memories, not actually being physicly harmed? Are they throughing the genetic memory stuff away?

first screens in this vid, don't know how they got them

WARNING: the guy on the vid sucks, screwattack.com in general has been crap for quite some time now. Just giving you a little heads up :|

Disappointed to hear him say "gliding portion".

Makes me think you'll only be able to glide at set times. Which would be a disaster and would ruin potentially the best thing the game has going for it.

This worries me greatly.

Yeah, maybe it's on rails too, making it even worse!!

You NEED to have that glider as a method of transport all the time once you get/built it. It would be a poor design choice to limit such a cool bit of gameplay to just one portion of the game.

It does look good, but I'll not get my hopes up, that way, if it turns out awesome, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Now.. UBISOFT

WHERE IS ****ING SPLINTER CELL CONVICTION!?

Because it's pathetically easy to carry a large, rigid wooden wings inconspicuously at all times. Yep. It really is.

lol, exactly.

I am guessing it will be a means to escape and / or the subject of a story mission.

Betcha gliders will be placed atop of tall towers much like carts of hay are played at the bottom of tall towers. Maybe not every tower, but one in a few perhaps. Think Far Cry 2 glider locations.

I dunno why I care though - AC was a huge disappointment so I'm not gonna get suckered in a second time. I'll see upon release.

I really dont care what reviewers or haters say about AC.

AC was a fantastic game. The atmospher, the freedom, the parkour, some of the greatest killing scenes in gaming history that leave you completely satisfied, the list goes on.

And, as nerdy as we all are here, even Gabe Newell said it was a great game.

Cant wait. I want more of the same, just bigger.

Actually, I just thought it sucked personally. I didn't care what the reviews said for it. I was hook line and sinker for the game regardless of what they said.

Mmm... do want this game.

I'm a big fan of DaVincis inventions, so I look forward to testing them out. Also seems like they have been trying to fix problems from the previous game, which is excellent :D

For me, AC was a rare game that was generally poor, but had a plethora of untapped potential.

AC was a game, that on paper was awesome. The game itself however, was so poorly executed I could have cried, was such a shame.

AC is awesome, I'm replaying it right now. Increased variety in missions will only fuel my interest moar!

But wasn't the "health" system of the first game about you falling out of sync with your ancestors memories, not actually being physicly harmed? Are they throughing the genetic memory stuff away?

Animus 2.0

Discard the only link between AC titles? Puh-leaze.

I just finished playing the first one now actually and overall I really enjoyed it much more than when I last tried it on the PC version. I think the keyboard and mouse doesn't suit it really :|

I think it suits it perfectly well, then again, I have excellent hand coordination.

I can't imagine playing it without LMB/RMB for combat.

Eh? Combat is so easy doesn't matter if you use keyboard or controller.

I never once got killed from melee combat in AC.
