Don't worry were not all doomed as its heading for a different planet to us. :p

The asteroid 2007 WD5 that was detected on Nov 8th of 2007 has had its chance of impacting Mars increased to 4% due to the latest calculations. Its still a small chance for an impact but wouldn't this be a fascinating event for us to witness since mars is currently at its closest to earth and any impact on mars will hit on the side of mars visible to earth at the time.

I'm going to be following this as time goes by to see which way the calculations for the chance of an impact go and I'm hoping we get to witness an impact event...

4%. That's 1 in 25. Or about the same chance as flipping a coin and getting heads four or five times in a row. I think.

I just flipped a quarter, and on my second attempt of flips I got heads 9 times in a row! :O

There is hope!

i find it sad that an asteroid so close still cannot have an absolute answer as to if it hits or not....

if it IS going to hit though im gonna take a look through a telescope that at one point was the most powerful in the world :)

Heard about it. 165ft wide. don't worry. It's like, form my back yard to my neighbor's front yard.

I don't want to die like that! I want to stay alive so I can witness how the earth is destroyed when the sun explodes

That shit is scary matt. the asteroid never even reached the earth but still decimated everything.

Size wise its about the same size as the tunguska object.

A flash fire burned thousands of trees near the impact site. An atmospheric shock wave circled the Earth twice. And, for two days afterwards, there was so much fine dust in the atmosphere that newspapers could be read at night by scattered light in the streets of London, 10,000 km (6,213 miles) away.

I hope it hits because then I know there's a 0% chance of it hitting Earth in the future.

Would be awesome to witness the power of an asteroid, so i hope it does hit.
