Righty. Since you're easily the most helpful hardware chappy around here (others can join in too though :E ) I have the biggest, most unsolvable problem ever.

My computer inferes with MW radio. I used to have a Jetway motherboard, and it's name escapes me. I now have an ASRock KS78X, and I appear to be having this problem. It's quite annoying, since my parent's favourite radio station is on MW.. Any ideas on what could be causing it? The case has a sidepanel, and the back panel of the motherboard isn't on.. but I was running caseless before, so I'm not sure whats wrong.

do you have to have the radio so close to the computer?

Harij, the radio is downstairs, and no-where near the 'puter. I have a feeling it effects far and wide.

Haha thats funny man i can hear the radio on my xbox and sometimes i can hear it through my computer speakers also.

Do you have a wireless keyboard and or mouse? Or wireless net access? I don't think I've ever even heard of WM radio but I've seen wireless keyboards/mice cause peculiar problems before.

Once I experimented with overclocking an old Pentium2 CPU I had... I pushed it too far... Anyway, after the smoke cleared, amazingly it still worked... well kinda -

Artifacts appeared on the screen, and more stranger... whenever anything happened that was CPU demanding (even opening a program/folder/moving the mouse) the TV lost its signal, and I could hear a high-pitch sound coming from the cpu itself.

Don't know what that was about, but anyway. CPU's cause radio wave inteference. Specially badly overclocked ones.

what do you mean? So if your cpu is 2.4 ghz and your phone runs at 2.4 ghz it will cause interference?

GHz is a measure of frequency... the frequency that a clock cycle operates with a CPU and the frequency of radio waves are totally different things...

It's just proven fact that CPU's do deliver some unwanted radio signal inteference acroass the radio frequency board. It depends on the chip architecture/current workload/overclocked/damaged/etc status of the CPU to determine how much inteference there is. Also, it's better to have the case closed (steel/aluminium panels on)

Amazing. lol
I would put the side pannel on at least or put it in a steal case and see if that would help. Maybe even some of the noise dampening foam on the pannel.
Actually, I would think it would be something else unless it is power related.
Are you sure it's your PC?
Do you or anyone near you have wireless networking (Wi-Fi) or bluetooth?

I believe I am the most helpful here. I always solve...ah **** it its not even funny....idk where i was goin with that one.

You are the most helpful here since you allow us to pick on you and relieve our stress.

Well if the processor is accepting interference, which means the radio is causing the interference (Duh). I don't know about Britain’s communication laws, but in the US, a device may not cause interference or refuse to accept interference (isn’t that annoying :hmph: ). My best guess is your parent’s radio is defective.

You can try putting your motherboard in a case, but I don't think that will help at all. After all, the radio waves have already traveled through a floor and whatever else you have in the way. Try to get your parent's radio repaired.

Also, have many feet (or meters) away is your computer from the radio? Try to make sure your computer is at least 20 feet (9.144 meters) away from the radio in all directions (more is better).

No wireless connections of any form. Side panel is on, and the case is more sturdy than the first one. It's not just my parent's radio, it's any radio. It is my PC, becuase whenever it is on, the interference starts instantly. The CPU isn't overclocked, it's running at 1917mhz (I have a SiS BIOS chip, otherwise I would OC it :E ) but my graphics card is overclocked.
