In HL2 Black Mesa I have reached the lift with Dr Mossman and she does not follow me in to the lift so it does not go down - help

I have tried but do not have a local files tab in the game properties

Are you sure you're doing it through Steam, and not just right clicking the icon on the desktop?

Indeed, you need to right click Half-life 2 in your 'My Games' list in Steam and select properties.

I believe I am right, I have opened the steam console, clicked on the my games tab, then right clicked on the HL2 icon. I select properties and there is only a shortcut tab

In that shortcut tab under the field that says "Target" copy everything there and paste it for us to see.

Uh wow, It really seems more like of an entity i/o problem then something with the engine. Start it over, then type "developer 2" without the quotes into the console. Now when you get to the part where she doesn't go into the elevator look in your console, post everything that's there when the bug occurs.

It says

Target directory D:\Users\David\Downloads\XP4\HL2\Half-Life 2\hl2.exe" -steam -console

You don't have a legit copy of HL2, what you have is a shotcut to a pirated copy of HL2 in Steam. If you paid money for this you have been ripped off. The problem you are having is very common with pirated copies of HL2.
