I'm not too sure myself why anyone would want to pay extra for a 256mb when the only addition is it's frame buffer and +20Mhz to it's memory clock.

the more mem, the bettter d3 will play

a 128 will run hl2 fine,

Sometimes more memory means it's slower. This can sometimes be worse than a 128 card. However in games that have alot of stuff moving around, the 256 will prolly be better.

Somebody should do a detailed benchmark of one level of Doom 3 with 9800 128MB and 256MB, just for us to see how they compare. In case of HL2 you will get great performance from both and almost no noticable difference (I would think .
