ATI 9800 XT or Asus 9800 XT?

mmmmmm 9800 xt...which to get? Most likely Asus because of better cooling and same price. I'll probably order it once I get my Xaser III case, oh well just asking for opinions

If there is a noticable price difference you might consider the ATI otherwise get the Asus model. :)
Actually ATI's 9800XT has a pretty nice cooler on it. Quiet, quality although Asus' does have 2 fans which means lower temperatures.

they are really hard to find. I guess if your buying online it will be ok, but I've been looking all over my area for one.

Tommorow they should come in at one store.

most ATI's that I find are around $483 and I found an Asus for $509 not that much of a price diff. so I think I'll go with the Asus...I've had severely bad experience with Sapphire made cards so I tend to stay as far away as I can possible from them.

BTW. the ATI's price is w/out S&H the Asus is with S&H.

ok ive managed to locate one and am picking it up tonight.
649 canadian.

review when i get it and play some games with it.

ive been wondering this myself, i want to see some serious benchmarks between the 9800XT cards.

orrrrrrrrr.... now I'm thinking about a 9800 Pro 128 mb because it's not far from an XT plus it's a lot cheaper but which comp.? I heard powercolor is bad but FIC/ATI/Giga are good which others are?

9600 XT's? I'm goin for the best of the best (well close to it) the 9600 xt (my opinion) is probably just clocked a little above of what a 9600 pro is and has a HL2 voucher with it (unless I'm mistaken) 9800's and up all the way baby

He was asking that for himself.

I wouldnt spend $500+ on a 9800XT, when you can get a 9800 pro for a little over $300, and will only have a 5 FPS difference. That said, buy a Sapphire or built by ATi 9800 pro.

when u think about it, 200 dollars for 9600xt is great, its better then the 9600pro, which is 150....
plus it has full version hl2, which is 50 dollars itself.

9600s = great deals.

9800XT at the moment = ripoff.

anyone see that 9800 Pro 128 mb that geil overclocked faster than an 9800 XT?

some manufacturers are producing 128MB versions of the 9800XT for around $80-100 less than the 256mb version... Sapphire bieng one of them!

Ive only seen thier 256mb version so far but the 128mb shouldnt be be too far behind it.

think I'm gonna go with a 9800 Pro instead, I found a nice one too I beleive. Found a Gigabyte 9800 Pro 128 mb (of course) with 3 games full version games bundled with it, a nice cooling solution on it, clocked at 380/680 mhz (pretty good) all for $330 not that bad for all of that. But I have read that Geil is making some severly overclocked 9800 Pro's with a big ass Thermal Take cooling solution on it (it's clocked higher than the 9800 XT!) and I read they are going to put it on the market at a suggested retail of $399 (street price you can prolly get it for $360-$370 off the bat) but I think the Gigabyte will do me fine, they are a pretty good company that makes 9800's as well. wwwwwhew I got carried away there :)

nice price. where at?
Gigabyte's card is good. Good copper heatsink, default clocks (not underclocked).

gimme a minute to find out where the link was about the Geil card...the Giga is on pricewatch (just look for it)

P.S. I currently have a 9800 SE and OMFG what a waste of money man...it's CRAPPY as hell, I mean it'll run games but jeesus, it leaves these lines and crap all over the graphics. It's just totally un-satisfactory. I've heard so many bad things about the 9800 SE since I got it and I HIGHLY advise anyone who plans to get one not to because the same thing happens to everyone that has had one. Your FPS sucks too.

yeah it looks pretty sweet and I'm glad someone is doing something this good for that price, $500 is wayyyyyy too much. I mean all other pieces of a computer cost anywhere from $50-$400 (speaking reasonabaly here...sorta) but vid cards are soooooo damn expensive. Why?

well I just ordered the 9800 Pro 128mb from Gigabyte, I hope it's worth the $330. :)

man that sux... i have a sapphire made card and it runs poifectly for me... hehe 9800 pro 256 ultimate..... yah i know i paid out the ass... but it's sooooo nice

actually to be perfectly honest this is my first time I've gotten a comp for my own, hell I don't even remember what GPU I had on my last comp and this is my first real jump into all things computer related.

So you know me when I heard HL2 was better on ATI GPU's I went and got one. Me not knowing much go the 9800 SE cuz of the cheap price and then I actually read up on what the SE was which severely pissed me off and the such...but it'll do for now until the Gig. Pro comes in :)
