ATI coupon and CD....

Can anyone help me solve this problem?
I have the ATi HL2 Coupon but the problem is, I do not have broadband service in my area. So I can not get the HL2 file.
I am now on dial-up service so it will take a lot of time and it will waste my money..

Can I juz use the warez version CD (for the file) and use the ATi coupon activation key to play it ?? Will I be able to update my HL2 and use other ORIGINAL features if I use this way ??

Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Download through Steam.
Send for CD in the mail.

Either way it will need to be activated on your PC. And using an illegal copy of the game is a sure way to give up your free account by being banned.

Hidden third choice, go to the store and buy HL2.

Is there any difference between the warez version CD's files with the retail version CD's files?

If not, why I cannot use the warez version CD to install the file, then activate it with my ATI CD-KEY? Isn't the difference between the warez and the Original is juz the CD-Key difference?? Sry for being noob. Ich bin ein noob. LOL

I have never seen an installed warez copy, but the main difference is probably just a cracked version of steam and the unlocking file. All you need Steamcx are the GCF files from someone else. Just download steam (~2 meg) and then put the GCF's into your "Valve/Steam/SteamApps" folder. Then you will download a small (1 meg file) to unlock the game.
**NOTE**
When you put the GCF's into the directory, steam won't be able to see them at first. To fix this problem you have to delete the "ClientRegistery.blob" file in the "Valve/steam" folder. When you restart Steam, it will create a new one and will now be able to see that you already have the files.

How can you get your hands on the warez version and not the GCF's for the normal game?

Anyone know how big is HL2 GCF file after it is being back-up using the "steam://backup/" thing??
