ATI Coupon holders should get it now...

I wish ATI coupon holders could a t least get the game over Steam now. Nobody would lose any money because we already got the game for free. Oh well.... November 16th isn't too far off. I'm just glad the wait is finally over.

It would just get pirated, even tho its going to get pirated anyway, before the release would be baaaad.

Valve cannot release the game over steam because vivendi would sue them for breach of contract.

Zzzz...

Oh and just because you bought a graphics card doesn't make you special, don't see why valve would give you the game earlier - You didn't give them any money

It was just a thought. Didn't think either Valve or vivendi would lose a lot to release it to ATI coupon holders, but I guess this would also giev pirates a full copy to work with, so perhaps it's not such a good idea. Just wanted to post my two cents.

Actually... I upgraded to the silver package, so they did get some of my money.

I think the Steam purchasers would get it before the ATI purchasers. Don't hold your breath.

When I got my ATI card a while ago, I used the included key to get a Steam account. I don't think it would matter whether you are a regular purchaser or ATI purchaser if you get it through Steam. It's a different story if you decided to send out for a copy of the game on CDs. you gotta wait for shipping then. Whatever the case, I'll be happy once November 16th rolls around. Now I just got to think of ways to keep my mind off of it until then so time doesn't go by too slow.

Not to troll or anything, but I don't see why getting the game free with a video card would entitle you to getting it before everyone else. I'm not saying that I wouldn't be wishing the same thing if I was in your shoes, but I'm just a little curious to hear your reason...besides Vivendi not losing any money in the deal, that is...

Who's whining? I was just saying that I thought it was possible and that it would be cool if it did. I don't think I should be entitled to it earlier than anybody else, I was just trying to point out that it seems like all the other reasons why the game can't be released earlier (i.e. pissing off Vivendi) don't seem to pertain to ATI coupn holders. I'm very content with waiting now that we actually have a release date.

Maybe I should've thought a little more about how to tile th thread, but I'm new at posting so I screwed up and let the trolls and flamers out. Oh well.... I'm sure my post count will remain low now.

Release dates are there for a reason. You wouldn't expect to get it early if steam didn't exist, and your card was only valid for store purchase.

You've got to think of other factors too, like the charts, and also reviews. The big game websites can't review it until it's released on the 16th (or so i've been led to believe). Imagine how pissed off they'd be if a million joe schmos started putting reviews up on the web. Also there'd be spoiler city everywhere, and no doubt loads of screenshots and videos from the game all over the shop.

The fact they wont be losing money may be a reason towards it being an acceptable idea, but there are a thousand other reasons why it would be a very bad idea.

That's bullcrap, I paid more for my 6800 gt card then most of the voucher guys did for cards like 9600 XT's, and I paid the full price of Silver whereas you paid nothing. If anything, I should get it before all the buttholes complaining about getting a free copy, should.

Very true. Never thought about it that way. It would suck to have all these spoilers circulating the net. I was just wondering "what if." I agree with you that it would be a crappy idea.

I will probably get flamed by the "Valve can do no wrong" fanboys, but we did purchase these ATI Cards and Gabe did help with the marketing. I bought mine after Newell repeatedly insisted in October 2003 that those with the ATI Coupons would be getting the middle offering in the plans. Getting the bottom end offering has left me and others feeling that we got the stiff. And Valve did/will get $$$ from ATI for the game as a part of the promotion, they did not give HL2 away.

Class-action lawsuit anyone? LOL

You forgot to include the many of us that have already purchased the game on Steam. ;)
