Hey everyone,
I have had a recent strange problem with my configuration. When i install the new 3.9 Catalyst drivers, then try to run 3D games i encounter the WinXP error-"This program has encountered an error, and must close". Then you can choose whether or not to send an error report to Microsoft. The error comes up on most newer games, but when i install the older 3.6 (i think thats the version) catalyst drivers, which came with my video card in the box, things run fine. I have an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 9700 Pro. Here is my system setup-

ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 9700 Pro
Intel D845PESV Motherboard
Creative Audigy 2 Soundcard
2.8 Pentium 4

Any ideas??

3.8 and 3.9 catalyst drivers have a lot of issues with certain games.

First, on 3.9 try disabling fast writes (under smartgart) and disable VPU recover. See if it still crashes.

If so, either revert to catalyst 3.7s, uninstall all catalyst and move to the omega 3.9s (www.omegacorner.com) or download the 3.10 catalyst beta drivers. Whichever thing fixes it.

where can i get the 3.10 catalyst Beta drivers? Thanks for your help!

CAT 3.10's!? Can they do that? I heard they were going to jump to CAT 4.0's?

I would stay at CAT 3.7 until you have confirmed a stable newer version of your drivers. I tried the CAT 3.8's and 3.9's, both jacked up my OS. So I reverted back to 3.7, works great now!

I'm running the Omega 3.9 drivers. No problems on my comp.
Barton 2500+
512 MB PC3200
Sapphire Radeon 9800 nonpro

Also used the Catalyst 3.8 with no problems before. And for five days i used 3.9 without problems. But a friend told me to use the Omega drivers.

But whatever drivers you are running: Remember to uninstall the previous drivers. I didn't when i first installed the 3.8, and my comp got messed up. Eventually i reinstalled windows and did a clean install of the catalyst 3.8 and all was good.

Ahahah.. yeah, wouldn't 3.10 = 3.1, in which case they're back tracking through version numbers..

Yeah, try Cat 3.10. AIW cards have been screwed with a bit lately...

Anyway, of course they can use that name.
Actually, its designated as "the 10th version 2003". Hence; 3.10.
4.1 will be the 1st version 2004 is my guess, hehe. 3.0 or 4.0 dont count... 3.0 was actually released before 2003. Maybe 4.0 will be released before 2004 :)

Thnx for ur help everyone! I installed the 3.10 CAT drivers, and now games run fine, although i get lock ups every once an a while while not in games. I might try the Omega drivers if i feel like it. Thnx again!
