So hopefully not long till the 9800XT announcement then.

On ATI's homepage there is a cheesy flash animation of hl2. Interestingly tho, the featured background image/ game scene is one i have not seen before.

Hmmm, yeah. That actually really puts my hope for a sept. 30 date. I always had the small feeling that valve actually really wanted to make it a big surprise release.

Was the flash anim just released today?

I was at the ATI site just two days ago and then it wasn't there.

Yeah, it's pretty weak. And not even Flash, incidentally. It's just an animated GIF.

But still... the implications!

Really??? I'm still only seeing the same animated GIF, admittedly meant to look 'Flash-like.' Right-click on it, and you don't get the Flash options, but the browser's image options. And the link I posted before.
 
Definitely a flash...and although most of the scenery looks nice, the bug just made me laugh. It's just a black, badly done silhouette that makes really funny noises that sound nothing like the somewhat creepy sounds in the game...

But even though the flash doesn't really do the game justice at all, it's still a good sign that things are probably on schedule hehe :)

Yeah, it's a Flash animation now. The .gif one looked like crap, which is maybe why they did it again in Flash.

And notice that the crowbar didn't seem to help against the Antlion so your reliance was misplaced.

What are they implying?

Seems the ATI page doesn't like Opera's Flash support (or just my computer), as it only loads the GIF substitute. Flash shows up in Explorer fine.

Damn guys. You are reading way too much into that flash animation. ATI always does this when they are about to launch a new card. This time it looks like the rumours of a HL2/9800xt bundle are true though.

the game is looking so sweet.

and i am feeling happy cause the release may be right :) i believe in the 30th about 70% now :)

lol i can't believe this idiot won't let it go, i mean damn that date was just some rumour spread by a german magazine...sheeesh, fragmaster has made an ass of himself, yet again....
 
Does seem more promising to be sooner rather than later at this point.

I can't see ATI throwing that up now, while using the words "coming soon" if the game was to be released in November (for instance).

And, although no one other than Valve know for 100% fact when the game will be done, I would think it's safe to assume ATI because of their deal would at the very least have a reasonable guess.

Hmm I talked with Vivendi Denmark earlier today and they said there would come an *official* press release tonight concerning the release of Half-Life 2. He said he wheren't allowed to tell me more than that, (he prolly didn't know anything more though).

It was on the phone so I cant show off any emails eighter.

Hmmm, it always sounds better. Even though a press release could also be the official death strike for september 30th hopers (like me)...
 
But I was expecting a bigger jump in the numbers >? 415 clock speed, sounds like less of an increase than between the 9700-Pro + 9800-Pro ?
Unless there has been some hardware changes to the card as well ?

It could be delayed, but I think they would mention it. If ATI is planning on having its card out on the 30th also, everything must be going acording to plan with Valve... so my guess is there isnt a delay and they are on time.
