I currently have
P4 2.8 ghz
512 ram
Geforce fx 5200
But i need a new video card. i cant decide on buying a geforce fx 5900 or an Ati.
And is there a really big difference when playing a game sponsered by nvidia and using an Ati

Don't you mean 'ATi or nVidia' or 'Radeon or Geforce'

5900 sucks anyway, if you were looking at a GeForce it'd have to be a 6800 GT / Ultra (GT for overclocking)

Otherwise get an X800 Pro / XT. Depends on what you can afford.

There is no difference between who sponsors the game, in most 'the way its meant to be played' (nvidia) games, ATi run them better.

ati, good. nvidai:makes up for crappyness by advertising in games.

i guess you never saw that picture of ruby in hl2. or havent heard of valve + ati for that matter.

If you are on a budget ($225 which isn't that cheap :dozey:), check out the 9800 Pro.

If you are spending some serious cash check out the Nvidia 6800GT or the ATI X800 Pro. They are pretty much equal.

I wouldn't recommend a Nvidia product that wears the FX tag.
In that case, you should stongly look to ATI.
Between ATI's X800 and Nvidia's 6800, that choice is up to you as the benchmarks can be split and very close depending on which game we are talking about. Both of these are good cards.

I would second the recommendation for the ATI 9800 Pro (128MB, 256Bit). What every you do, stay away from the SE.

This is only a taste as to why the FX series is a poor choice.
Another...
...And another.
Point being, performance and image quality is lacking on the FX, especially for the new DX9 games.
